Any comparision with Cuevas is inappropriate in that Limon was not a puncher by any means...he cranked up arm punches..nothing came from the hips.nothing was generated from the legs and the hips like Cuevas. Bazooka would wear a guy down...he'd win thru attrition mostly.
Can anyone fill me in on the story behind Limon's several early career stoppages? He was stopped three times before being stopped by Arguello, what happened?
the only thing i remember about bazooka limon from the small bits of youtube footage i have seen of him is that he the widest, wound up punches that i have ever seen. i believe that barkley and foreman had tighter punches then limon.
Yeah, I'd like to think so. He certainly displayed an iron chin up until he was shot to **** against Camacho.
I don't think so...... Cuevas had no real skill, either.... Cuevas was upright and stiff in movement... His speed was normal as well... Both Cuevas and Limon "Winged" wide punches looking to KO the opponent.... Both also had poor defense.... Granted, Cuevas could KO a 147 pounder with one or two blows, while Limon put forth a barrage of shots to off his victims.... STILL! Both had that "Kill or be Killed" attitude in the ring..... Cuts. What other fighters can have any kind of career success when they are that wide wide open defensively? Threw the widest punches in the sport that made Mugabi look like a textbook fighter? Cut easily? Telegraphed punches? Was a southpaw as wide open for a right hand as humanly possible? Rarely in top shape? How Limon was able to win w/ so many serious flaws is incredible. Other guys lose fights with warts. You don't even have to get to the warts stage with Limon. I love that Choi fight of his. Who else takes those perfectly delivered clean right hands like that? He took a few of those picture perfect right hands from the master, Arguello. How, I don't know.
