http://www1.skysports.com/boxing/news/12183/7742618/Board-issue-licence-threat I smell a breakaway organisation being formed...
The BBBC is correct in this matter.Enough of these promoters scalping the fans with this silly Haye-Chisora WWE type of event.
Restores my faith in them a bit to be honest. I was afraid they'd just roll over and abdicate. Good for them.
Just hold the fight outside the UK then. Going by the BBBoC articles of association quote, no one can be stripped of a license for fights conducted outside of the BBBoC jurisdiction. Anyway, won't the BBBoC be responsible for allowing such (dangerous) farces as the Enzo v Gunn debacle? If they had the power to prevent that fight, then it's terrible that they let it go ahead. It's worse to allow such a disgusting mismatch (old, ex 148lb, 5'11", never any good...title fight?!). Then threatening to ban everyone involved in Haye v Chisora is bad (why hurt those lower down in the ranks that had nothing to do with the brawl etc). I know that's a pretty random example, but it seems like organisations like these very selectively do their job.
Yet thats exactly what they did when Universum was trying to get Haye/Chagaev in Germany. They threatened to strip Haye of his license.
Well, they won't sell the same in tickets outside the UK and this ban looks like they are even threatening media outlets that carry it. Maybe bluster, I have no idea what powers they wield.
They failed in their duty in the Chisora Wlad fight, and nearly all sanctioning bodies are corrupt these days. Forget democratic, The BBBoC appoint themselves to their board. None of the 2,000 boxers has a say in ANYTHING they do. I hate when they get on their high horses. As much as Frank W annoys me, he has a point - Chisora isn't a millionaire.. and he DOES need to earn a living.
He also needs to pay a price. His acts were actually criminal. He should have been cited for them. Two cases of battery. Both planned in advance too. Set his axe in jail and let him cool off instead then.
I'm not sure. Banned? YES. Criminal charges? It's a bit over the top. One thing is for certain, Chisora's a twat, and the BBBofC couldn't handle a ****-up in a brewery.
I agree with the BBOC. I was hoping they would come up with a rational way of possibly stopping this farce. If Chisora has sense, he should just accept his ban, be a model citizen/representative of boxing, and reapply after a time. Both of them. Ban probably would not have lasted longer than a year.
Athletes often get away with criminal behavior. Hockey players are the prime example. Just because they are playing hockey doesn't mean they can get into a fist fight. That is outside the rules and criminal behavior. When Chisora slapped Vitali outside the ring, that was battery, a criminal offense. Go walk up and slap someone while a policeman looks on and see what happens to YOU.
Actually, Chisora could turn this into a positive. Say he is backing out to respect the BBOC and make sure no one else gets punished because of him........ Makes him publicly contrite and probably shortens his suspension.
