I think that happens quite a lot with Khan. He says things without thinking, or gets very into hyperbole. Sometimes it comes across so poorly, almost like he thinks all boxing fans are morons. ironically.

Disrespectful to Peterson. It wasn't that Khan took the fight lightly, he didn't have the skills to negate what Peterson did.

 

I don't see how it's disrespectful when it's true. He didn't train to deal with lamont's skill set because he thought he could just get rid of him, like ortiz nearly did, or box him from the outside like Bradley did.

 

Maidana showed it up as a weakness. It's just not something he does well. You don't think he trains to defend overhand rights, uppercuts etc? He panicks under pressure. It's not to do with understimating the opponent, just fighting one that shows his weaknesses.

He doesn't take his opponents lightly since Prescott, it's just a weak area of his game.

He's great if you stand off him and allow him to establish the jab. Otherwise he doesn't have much else no matter who he faces.

It's like saying Haye underestimated Wlad because he didn't train to get inside the jab. He just couldn't do it.
