lewis,buchannan,calzaghe,eubank/benn,honeyghan is mcguigan the only brit fighter in the hall of fame post war? cooper anyone, maybe not the top tier but the guy shook waves through britian, dropped ali (some say dropped him the hardest),kept boxign in the mainstream way in to the 80's, still today is proping 50 year old boxing fans. he gets alot of respect from me.
Lets face facts, if Joe would have stepped in there with a prime RJJ - he would now be fighting for ranking places with Nigel Benn, and Eubank. As it stands 83% think he is the greatest British post war boxer.
Aye, that's the thing isn't it We can pick apart records all day but Joe was NOT a better fighter than Benn or Eubank in my opinion He just didn't face the oppo to allow us to make a proper, full assessment of his abilities Oh and it's Lewis by a country mile, his depth of opposition over so many years puts him miles and miles in front
I don't rate Buchanan above Calzaghe? What acheivements and Prime ATGs did Buchanan acheive to warrant this higher ratings?
Name: Barry McGuigan Date of Birth: Feb 28 1960 Place of Birth: Clones, Co. Monaghan, Republic of Ireland Nationality: Irish :good You can claim the big Canadian all you want but leave Barry out of it. He's Irish and thats the end of it. You can ask him yourself if you ever run into him
Also British Featherweight champion.... I agree with you though, Barry Mac is Irish but LL is British, he was born here and fought out of the UK during his pro career. Fitz is a trickier call IMHO.......
Aye he beat the brits alright and took their belt. Doesn't make him a brit though. Sure young Jeffro fought for an Irish title and I doubt he claims to be Irish.
bam bam do you know how barry qualified to fight for a british title, i presume he had taken up residence in england or something and was able to fight for the british title, im not sure though exactly how
Buchanan Lewis Calzaghe Although Honeyghans win over Curry was better than any of Joe C's wins, Calzaghe's consistency sees him ranked above him. If Hatton beats Pac I'd rank him higher than Joe.
pompey scummer if i was you I'd do a bit more research on Ken. Mixed with/beat better opposition than Calzaghe. i.e Laguna. And in terms of beating past-'legends', Buchanan being the only man to stop Carlos Ortiz is better than beating up a faded Roy Jones. The Laguna win in PUERTO RICO is better than the Hopkins win in Vegas, where they are indifferent to B-Hop, no doubt.
