The Gypsy King just posted on his Instagram that he demands removal from the shortlist, stating that he is in fact the people's champ and doesn't need any verification nor any awards.

Rashford will probably claim it this year for his work outside of sport.

I assume he is on the list?

I like the sentiment but it's probably more to do with being afraid of not 'winning'

We know what happened last time we rejected him.

It's just self protection for his mental, and there's nothing wrong with that.

Not a bad point but the BBC and most of the people who vote for that are Tory ****s and would rather vote for a show jumper.

Rashford has been average on the pitch anyway.

Fury is probably just trying too hard to be cool like the Arctic Monkeys do with the Brits.

Lewis Hamilton is the favoutie equaling Shumacher`s record number of world championship wins, Fury wouldn`t get anywhere near the number of votes Hamilton will.

Fury's achievement in the ring and outside the ring this year deserve this award, however, as his fight was hidden away on Box Office and watched by a tiny percentage of the population, the general sporting public will not vote for him.

What are the odds on BBC SPOTY 2020? The odds are in favor of Lewis Hamilton (1/4)*, followed by Ronnie O 'Sullivan, Tyson Fury and Jordan Henderson.

No way, Hamilton just matched the greatest motor racing driver of all-time that would be like Fury beating a prime Ali not Deontay Wilder.

He drove the fastest car and continued to avoid paying his taxes in the UK.

Swap his car with the guy finishing last and see how much he wins next year.

Just take the nomination and don't turn up.

Find it a bit pathetic really.

The Furys moaned, whinged and cried when Tyson wasn't on the SPOTY list a few years back.

I remember Big John Fury moaning one time that Joshua is getting all the media appearances, all the awards and Tyson gets none of that and then he said "but we don't care about all of that". Yeah sure John!

The Fury family and their real fighting men mantra is just all smoke and mirrors, just like Tyson's infamous "mental breakdown" .

Good for him. The list is bobbins. The show is bobbins.

The entire thing is bloated way beyond what it should be.

It's unwatchable dross and should end.

    This ^

there was a time when that show was low key and had some integrity. It wasn't even "Sports Personality of the Year Awards" nevermind "SPOTY" .... it was actually the BBC Sports Review of the Year, it ran about 75 to 90 minutes, and the awards were just a part of it. It was a nice formal studio event, not a bloated pretentious gala extravaganza.
Also, the BBC used to actually broadcast the bulk of important sport back then too, so it made sense.
But, yeah, it's always favoured showjumpers and other equestrians who are closely related to the Queen and stuff like that.
