Although true about the car he is still a phenomenal driver.
You cant really knock F1 because in all sports you see the money at the top. Lets give the likes of Man City and Liverpool a budget of 2m a year and see them still win.

SPOTY has gone downhill in recent years, but for all its flaws still more often than not a deserving candidate wins. There's only Giggs and Zara Phillips from the last 20 years that were a bit dubious (accepting that it's just a popularity vote anyway).

Hamilton is the logical frontrunner this year. Bearing in mind that Mansell and Hill both won twice with only one F1 title each, while Hamilton has one win for 7 F1 titles, it's about time that was put right.

Notwithstanding the usual arguments about being in the fastest car and F1 being heavily dependent on constructors as well as drivers, his achievements are unprecedented. There's a reasonable argument that he is Britain's most successful sportsman ever. It's also important to note that two drivers (in theory) are in the so-called "best car" every year, and Hamilton either jointly holds or holds outright pretty much all the the important records. If it was that easy to just be in the best car, other drivers in the best car would have similar records (which they obviously don't).

I think Fury is just trying to appeal to his fanbase. He knows they will probably lap this up, and it plays up to his anti-establishment image. It's unlikely he would win anyway.

Always thought the award was bullocks myself.

If it's Sports personality it should go to the personalities not the sportsman with greatest achievemwnts that year.

Having a boring, misreable, rich twonk like murray win it and a person who probably would be in the running for most boring sport personality ever in Michael Owen just goes to show what crock of **** it is.

Taking himself off a list he had no chance of winning.

We have this discussion every year but it’s nothing to do with personality. It’s achievements. Hamilton will win and deservedly so

I don't watch it mate but I could imagine the drivers in the other teams having the same success.

Fastest car is going to win regardless of driving ability.

Money has wrecked football competition all over Europe.

I actually know that Bethany Black. Worked with her a number of times over the years. A proper attention seeking unfunny muppet. Used to be a bloke but had the op and is now a lesbian. Claims to be an alcoholic, addicted to drugs and all sorts of other stuff but it’s proper made up.

Clearly Fury is playing mind games with this- if he wins he will accept the award no doubt and if he doesn’t then he will say he told his fans not to vote.

The award is nothing more than a bit of fun now.

Well said...It seems to show a lot of hate for Hamilton or are these people just discrediting all of F1?

The same could be said in boxing about who can afford the best teams, training facilities, trainers, nutritionists, etc and even PR campaigns etc as publicity matters.
