I don't see him as a personality though...... it's tough to identify with someone who has been a laughing stock for pretty much all his career, before falling on his feet with Ross Braun.

Certainly harder than it is to do so with someone like Ennis - working class girl from working class family, athletes have to absolutely flog themselves to even make it to the big events, never mind win them.

That said, Button is more personable than Lewis Hamilton, who for some reason I simply cannot stand, at all.

I agree totally BB. I'm just speaking from who I think will win it and why. Haye hasn't got a cat in hells chance.

 

I had Haye to win Yesterday morning at 14's on 365. He's down significantly now.

I'll win £98 if he gets the nod :happy. Not holding my breath though

The guy was paid millions of pounds early in his career, hyped up as the next big thing - yet did **** all until recently.

Look, I'm not taking anything away from him winning the world championship, but to me (and others it seems) you can be the best driver in the world but if the car isn't the best you will be lucky to get in the points.

I kinda lost interest in it when they changed the rules to make it harder for Schumacher to whup everyone :-(

 

Phil Taylor will get overlooked again. You might not class darts as a sport but what he has achieved is unparalleled. I dont think any boxer deserves it this year. Certainly not Froch anyway, if Haye gets a couple of good wins next year then he might be up for it. Probably be someone in the Ashes team although I wouldnt mind seeing Button win it.

We all know this has nothing to do with personality . . .Nigel Mansell won it FFS. It's based on acheivement and since it is voted for by the public generally comes down to who got the most exposure whilst they did something special (making it seem even more special)(Although this doesn't really explain that royal horse woman that won!)

I think it will be a battle between Button and Haye. Normally the F1 guy would take it imo but Haye has drummed up a lot of publicity so has a good shout.
