watched the show the other night, pretty good watch.

    1. Skipping meals like breakfast makes our brain crave high calorie food which makes it extremely hard to resist them.

    2. Reduce the portion on the plate. Studies show that people will keep eating significantly more if it's on their plate even when they're full.

    3. Choose Low calorie/reduced fat versions of products. This can almost half your calorie intake.

    4. Count your calories.

    5. Protein makes you full for longer so by having a high protein breakfast you won't have to eat nearly as much for lunch.

    6. Soup - Fully liquidised soup is the best kept secret. It keeps you full for long.

    7. The wider the variety of choice available to you, the more you will eat. Buffets are very dangerous.

    8. Low fat Dairy products help you absorbe less fat from your foot and you'll poo out the fat instead.

    9. Exercise goes on burning fat during your sleep.

    10. Keep active - stand instead of sitting, take the stairs instead of lift, walk instead of getting a lift.

I can't remember where it was but I'm sure I seen something against this idea. Something like they up the sugars to take the place of the fat so you get twice as many carbs. I can't remember the exact reason but it was definately against this.

A lot of food manufacturers reduce the fat content in food so they can label it as low fat then pile in loads of sugar or salt. Hence why it is better to make everything from scratch as this way you can control what is actually going into your meals.

I agree with most of that, except 3, 5 and 6
3 has been mentioned above, lots of low fat varieties have extra sugar and/or salts to make up for the flavour difference.
5, I disagree with protein heavy meals in the morning. Complex carbs and fats will keep you full just as long as protein and are both far more efficient fuel sources. Breakfast should be have carbs and fats.
6 is a bit strange. Soup? I quite like soup. I can eat quite a bit of it before I get full. Soups are generally insanely high in salt, even vegetable soups are loaded with salt. Soups can also be very high in fat (think pea and ham). Sumo wrestlers eat a heavily soup based diet, it's called chankonabe and it has heaps of vegetables, but they eat it by the gallon.
So the weight loss qualities of soup are a strange thing to be promoting.

To make things even more simple, I saw some geezer on telly the other day who summed it up very nicely in just three points.

    1. Eat less.
    2. Eat better.
    3. Move more.

You might be right. These things seemed to have been tested though and the results all pointed to these answers.

It's worth a watch by the way as I didn't really go in to much depth in my summary.

Great simple advice here. Actually if you just do 2., and 3., you don't even really have to do 1.
