Local lass Katie Healy just took a referee's decision shutout against Katherine Quintana in a super featherweight 6-rounder. They showed a replay of what looked to be a knockdown but apparently no-called...for all it mattered.

 

Four bouts remaining (two women's and two men's) in total.

 

Andrew Owen vs. Michael Stephenson, 10 rounds @ super middleweight

 

The ring emcee incorrectly announced this as being for the BBBofC Midlands Area light heavyweight title.

It's for the vacant 168lb version of that same belt, in fact.

(the 175lb version has lain dormant for the past 15 years)

 

Stephenson giving up close to a foot in height. Owen happy to collect flurries on the guard and snipe with jabs from mid-range. Stephenson busier popping out combos off light jabs and changing altitudes but not penetrating with anything. Owen catching shots on his arms, comfortably rolling out a jab and occasionally backing Stephenson off with a warning uppercut inside.

2-zip Owen, starting to work in longer sequences, dusting the top of Stephenson's head and still staving him off with that steep vertical uppercut inside. Stephenson for his part throwing arm punch flurries into the chest but hitting mostly arm.

 

Much better 3rd for Stephenson, finishing strong with a bunch of shots around the guard of Owen, up on his toes and bashing either ear in with hooks.

Stephenson has really turned it around here - midway into the 4th, he has Owen covering up and drifting into the ropes getting bombarded, mixing to head and body. Owen keeps his elbows pinned to his belt line and is slouching forward attempting to leverage his long arms to shove Stephenson off, to no avail. Stephenson wailing on him and Owen wilting.

Shame neither bloke could crack an egg (they combine for just one stoppage in thirteen pro bouts between them) or we would have maybe seen some knockdowns by now in either direction.

 

Correction: this was supposed to be for the vacant super middleweight title - last contested in 2019 - but Stephenson missed the weight (coming in 172¾; Owen made it at 167¾) and so they've resurrected the light heavyweight title, last contested in 2008.

58-56 Stephenson, may just nab his first TKO via body shots. Owen plops on his stool looking ready to quit.
