Both men have faced a couple of big (or at least well-known) domestic names and come up short - Joel "El Toro" McIntyre here coming in directly off a TKO2 loss to Lyndon Arthur in December and Ricky "Digger" Summers surviving the distance against Frank Buglioni back in 2017.

Both have history with the BBBofC English light heavyweight title on the line today (second defense of McIntyre's second reign). McIntyre first won and then fumbled it in the midst of a losing trilogy against a Hertfordshireman named Miles Shinkwin. Summers unsuccessfully challenged Dan Azeez for it in 2021.

That walkout song for McIntyre (according to my phone's music recognition app that I always forgot is on there until it pops up with helpful information) was "Jungle" by someone called Fred Again ...just in case anybody plans on dropping ecstasy and morphing into a 17 year old girl anytime soon.

I really like Ricky "Always The Bridesmaid" Summers, hopefully he does enough to win a SD in his favor for a change.

Don't worry.... I've seen plenty of cards just like this, I'm well aware. Actually... this is a bit of a step up from some of the shows I've seen.

    Round 1

McIntyre is gathering Summers into a quick hug in the middle of the ring and swatting with his left after they exchange some feel-out jabs. Light roundhouse flurries below the bent elbows of Summers by McIntyre. They sidestep past each other in the middle of the ring and both jab at the same time, Summers' head getting turned aside sharply. Summers pressuring but unable to fix his jab on McIntyre through his pinned-together wrists. The jab however, is setting up body shots, and the more he persists the more it starts to push McIntyre's gloves back into his face and threaten to burst through.

    10-9 Summers, very close

    Round 2

McIntyre is getting driven into the ropes, Summers exploiting his ranginess with full-extension jabs and reaching in with some right crosses to make McIntyre dip into the ropes. Sustained pressure by Summers, launching some underhanded rights on the body past a high set-up jab. McIntyre initiates a clinch, then shoeshines the belly to break free. McIntyre tries leaning to his right and smacking up high with a left hook but he can't reach. Summers' longer arms really making a difference. Summers also picking his spots more judiciously, not slapping for volume like McIntyre is. Stiff jabs up top and rights on either the chin or stomach. Quick flurry by McIntyre, mostly blocked.

    10-9 Summers

    20-18 Summers
