That's what my coach said... Im a short ass and need to fight on the inside, can someone advice me on which boxer videos to watch? Tyson would be good start i guess? :bbb
I think he also means something about mentality, but yes Tyson is a good start. Try out Chavez and Duran too. See what works with your body type and natural stengths the best and polish it.
although obviously you will be suited to certain elements and styles, you should learn the whole game. All the greats could do everything otherwise they wouldnt be great! Duran an underrated boxer and defensive master. Ray leonard was a boxer who when necessary who could brawl ect ect. I guess you should learn to do what suits you but what happens when **** hits the fan and you have to do something your not comfortable with!? :good

Depends on what you got. I mean if you got skills it doesn't mean you gotta be a all out gunslinger. As above have mentioned there good to watch, Nowadays..maybe Timmy Bradley because he is effective with his aggression whilst maintaining his class and poise. Juan Diaz 2-3 years back would be good to watch especially against Julio Diaz.
You can't afford to box around and be technical, you have to get on the inside and go in there to do damage
watch some micky ward 'the' fighter! amazing mental and physical resistance! 6, 7, 8 rounds of punishment he would take on his body then he would become a monster brawler, beat the **** out of his opponent for a few minutes then baoom left hook to the body and all done
I swear that is one of the things I hate about boxing... You can't be what you are not! Now that doesn't mean you can't improve aspects of your game, but if you aren't the kind of guy that likes being in a guys chest? You will approach training and eventual fighting accordingly. Hesitant, reluctant, half heartedly... and get KTFO. Perfect YOU! Where do you feel most comfortable and effective while fighting guys of ANY size? This is important because you need a style that suits you no matter the opponent. Maybe you like to box? Who cares if you are short. Work on foot work, distance, timing, and "slickness". Trust, if you don't like getting in guys' chest as soon as you hit adversity? You will revert. Once you figure out your identity as a fighter? Perfect it. Now to play Devil's advocate for your coach... You may not have to tools that match your temperament. A guy with no speed/timing that wants to box. A guy with no power, coordination, or chin that wants to brawl. Then? Time to learn to wrestle. Ha!
It depends just how short he is, if hes giving up 5+ inches in height generally then he will have to inside fight.
Thats my style!!!, Now how do i use this in sparring? Without people getting angry? and going nuts trying to toe to toe with me? thanks again everyone!
