The ones in bold are the names I spot pretty fast. Nelson should be remember for his wars with Gans so shock he made the list.

I've heard of, and at the very least somewhat familiar with Smith, O'Dowd, Tamakuma, Chip, Nelson, and Salas. Haven't heard of any of the others though.

    Edit, forgot about Salica.

I have read the name Battling Nelson somewhere over the years, don’t remember the context even though. None of the others.

I could not recall Mr Silverberg, but heard of all the rest and know varying degrees about them.

I was born in the south of the county.

I would like to have been able to say I lived in 61 Wendron Street Helston, but I cannot, however I did reside longer in the county of Cornwall, than a certain Mr Fitzsimmons from the above address did.

I wonder whether Mr Fitzsimmons ever achieved any success in our sport?

I live in Lancashire, but know Cornwall reasonably well having holidayed there many times over the past 35 years. Beautiful part of the world.

Fitz is my #6 p4p boxer of all time, for whatever that is worth.

Some of them I may have heard or read the name before, but I am not at all familiar with. The only one I’m familiar with is Battling Nelson, who I read a little bit about.

Also, after Mike Tyson stopped Larry Holmes, he rested his hands on his hips. He is said to have done this in homage of Battling Nelson, whom he saw do it in a film or photograph.

Ah good old Battling Nelson, by all accounts he did not see his personal hygiene as being a priority, though did have a bathe the night before the Dempsey vs Willard fight........in a vat of lemonade being prepared by the drinks concession holder.

Quelle Surprise, once the customers became aware of the incident, they lost their appetite for the beverage, other versions are because they were not sure which vat had been soiled, they had to dispose of it all, the concession owner lost money, as did many other concession holders at the fight
