Now I'll be the first to admit that while I thought PAC cud KO Hitman... I sure as **** wasn't banking on it being in the first 3 rds. In fact, I actually made fun of Freddie for making what I thought (at the time) was such a bold prediction. It sounded sort of - well, EastSideBoxing-ish. "Pac's will KTFO Hatton Rd3". What a load of crap. Well, look who's laughing now. I really didn't think Hatton would crumble so (relatively) easily under the PAC-MAN assault :ko:dead. Anyone else here caught off guard by this one? For me it was one of the most surprising fights in the last 2 years (not the result, but the fight itself).
I rooted for Pac and thought he was a class above Ricky but, yeah, that caught me by surprise. When Ricky was floored in the 1st I just started laughing, Pac was so ****ing amazing.
i thought when top young prospect khan getting beat by a guy who was ranked 158th in less than 50 seconds was certainly more of a surprise but how pac destroyed hatton was quite astonishing
I went for Pac TKO10. I was stunned by the destruction that Pacquiao unleashed on the 'out of his depth' HITMAN. I thought Hatton would at least stick with him through the early rounds.
Exactly the same reaction from me as well . Though I think the Hatton army I was on-line with did add something to that. I was amazed.
I thought it would be relatively comprehensive but I thought Hatton would be a handful for the first few rounds or so, that's the only thing that surprised me. I knew Hatton's headshots would be no threat whatsover and the only thing that would effect Pacquiao would possibly be the bodyshots, but for a fighter like Pacquiao that wouldn't be hard too negate, especially with Hatton being one-handed. All in all it ended how I thought it would but a bit earlier. I think that was largely due to Hatton's punch resistance being shot.
I never expected it to end too soon. But the first time Hatton was downed, I knew it was over. Hatton is no JMM.
No, b/c he was geniunely chinny and fighting a large LW with a high KO ratio (though against limited opposition). The result may have been a surprise - but you knew given Khan's propensity to trade and his chinniness coupled with the large, heavy-handed opponent... could potentially be lights out. Here, the Hitman just got demolished. I was at least expecting him to work the inside and rough PAC up a little before he got KO'ed. I wasn't even sure that PAC wouldn't have to decision him instead. This was just so.... surreal.
Nope. But as soon as I saw the first knockdown and Hatton's ridiculous strategy (or lack of it) I knew he could not possibly stand up in there for too long.
No but thought it was a real posibility. I looked at how Hatton reacted to Lazcano when stunned, tried to clinch and not very well. I look at how vicious Manny gets when he smells blood, Morales, JMM, Velasquez, Solis and thought, had that been Manny in Lazcano's position, he would have finished Ricky. I also mentioned Pac KD JMM, MAB, Morales all inside 3 rounds, why not Hatton...and since Hatton survival skills isnt as good, he should finish him.
Hatton looked very bad. No real defensive effort, not that Pac's offense makes defense easy, but Pac did a great job at controlling the distance, and Hatton did a crap job at smothering Pac. Getting caught with the counter right hook is understandable, it was an absolutely beautiful shot by Pac. The left cross that put Hatton down was partially blocked. But to get caught with a left hook by a southpaw, comming in, getting timed standing straight up and down is just rookie/mental lapse stuff. No discredit to Pac, perhaps that is just such an audacious punch that it wasn't expected to be thrown? I mean, thats the biggest punch a natural southpaw is capable of throwing, and he landed it without even setting it up.
