"Manny was brilliant on the night as well but it wasn't that tactical."
"Both of them just stood there swinging. There wasn't any time for pivoting or feinting, they just kept swinging at each other."-- Lee Beard

Does anyone else find that completely incorrect? Is he just chatting BS or does he actually think that, do you guys think?
    Complete incompetance?

Sorry if this is a repost but was just trying to find some views from the hatton camp and stumbled upon this.

haha, well im just trying to figure whether he is actually that incompetant or a bit of a bullshitter. TBH however, apparently beard did instigate some positive stuff like the southpaw pad work...

Lee Beard should quit the business if that's what he thinks.

There's more to tactics than just pivoting and feinting - Roach picks a strategy specific to each individual opponent. Manny kept swinging with the right punches and the right timing because he understood how Hatton attacks and how to best him.

Not much to say. Fight was over before it really got started.

I think he should watch the fight again (when he has a spare 5 minutes) and maybe then he'll notice Pac just holding back and popping Ricky everytime he lunged forward.

Look at the amount of punches Pac connected with (73 of 127) in just under 2 rounds of boxing. Compare that to Hatton who only landed 18 of 78 shots at Pacman!!

Beard can say what he wants - Hatton was destroyed by speed, power, accuracy and spot on tactics. Simple as that.

Looked to me like Manny found plenty of time for feints and counters.

I was going to start a thread about what a knob this Beard is earlier, so I'm glad I'm not the only thinking that the guy is a bit deluded.

Check out some of these quotes from The Sun and Sky News:

"He got involved in a brawl." (Huh? Really? He was involved in a brawl? Pacquiao was brawling?)

"It was an accumulation of shots. But the knockout punch was little more than a wild swing.” (Wild Swing? **** me!!)

With guys like these talking the ****, I'm not surprised Ricky believed in his own hype.

Well thats kinda what happened but that was the tactic anyways. HAtton was swinging and Pac was executing the game plan. Pac took everything Ricky had away with this speed. Everytime Ricky swung pac would swing at the sametime and land first. Hitting Hatton when he was in no possition to take a shot and then to make it more impressive still Manny was so far ahead of HAtton that he still had time to get out of the way and reset. Simply amazing I've never seen anyone be able to do that.

Did you make these quotes up

That is astonishing Beard has come out and said that. In fact, it's an insult to the boxing world and Hatton's fans who paid all that money to go and watch him.

How can a professional trainer call Pacmans knockout shot - "a wild swing"!!?? It was one of the most accurate, powerful, well hidden shots I've seen. Pac waited for Hatton to throw his shot, feinted and then in an instant knocked him out cold!!

Obviously he's an idiot if he said that, manny used his footwork to stay off the ropes. Hatton was doing well at the first 30 secs of the fight. Wasn't untactical at all -.-
