Carter all the way. Much more measured, much more skilled, and had more than enough power to ice the wide-open Mugabi with counter-shots. This is just a different league of fighter than what Mugabi had faced on the way up. No disrespect intended to them, but this Carter had a lot more going on than Fletcher or Green or Hargrove.
Mugabi was a tomato-can, handpicked by Hagler for harmlessness. Terry Norris and Gerald both showed how to take care of Mugabi, Carter was a fearsome puncher and would do the same.
Norris and G-Man both scored KO's when Mugabi was well past his best. Carter's post prime run featured losses to relatively unheralded guys like Harrington and Scott. Think I'd take prime Mugabi over that version of Carter, for sure. Prime for Prime, though...Think Carter might be a bit more durable, and that offsets Mugabi's edge in speed. Carter by come from behind stoppage.
