Alright so he battled cancer (or was it something else?) and came out on top. Much respect for that. Between May and August 2011, he smoked 3 cans within 10 rounds of boxing. Now he's facing Renan St-Juste on Dec 2nd, next weekend, for a WBC title eliminator. That's right, I'm talkin bout the younger of the two Dirrell's, Anthony "The Dog" Dirrell. St-Juste KO'ed S. Demers in 2 rounds then fought a no-namer on the Bute-Mendy card in Romania and won a UD. Both fighters have come out and said they hadn't watched tapes (of one another) as of 2 weeks ago. St-Juste is a low workrate slugger southpaw, Dirrell is orthodox and lets his hands go a lot. Decent pop in both. Could be an interesting fight, but I'm thinking neither of the two is actually deserving of a shot at the S6 champ (which the eliminator is all about). Hell some people on here, as well as Froch in a recent interview, said Bute wasn't worthy of a shot because of his record altogether... Ton Dirrell could be Ward/Froch's homecoming gimme defense in spring 2012, for all we know. It'll be in Dirrell's backyard, televised on Showtime... I'm going for the upset just for the hell of it, since both are stepping it up for the 1st time. St-Juste late stoppage.
...anybody picking Dirrell by stoppage? St-Juste is 38, this is prolly his last fight if he loses. I'm sure we'll see an animal in there.
LOL I honestly missed out on that one, thanks for posting it. ...and again, that Dirrell is wide open while setting up the right hand.
Don't get me wrong, that's a possibility, but I'm anticipating a Dirrell UD/SD based on workrate. Obviously rooting/calling for a St-Juste left hand from hell that would put Dirrell (who recently said "thing with Bute, he's fought a lot of Canadians" ) on ***** street. St-Juste would then smell blood and go for the kill. St-Juste doesn't throw a lot, but from an effective aggression perspective, he's.. well, effective. That "bum" is a tough SOB. It's not that black & white. :hey
