I never held a world crown, but...
over a period of less than 2 years, I defeated world champions from 4 of boxing's 8 classic divisions.

    Who am I?

(and we are of course talking about different champions for each division)

Harlem Tommy Murphy actually did it in less than 1 year, he beat:

Welterweight Champion, Mike Glover on May 5, 1909
Lightweight Champion, Ad Wolgast on September 1, 1909
Bantamweight Champion, Owen Moran on February 28, 1910
Featherweight Champion, Abe Attell on April 28, 1910

In my research for this question, I missed Murphy - but he is most certainly a correct answer to this question:good

There's at least one more non-champ, who fits this decription. Someone who beat champions at welter, middle, light heavy and heavyweight.

Well, Loughran was of course himself a world champion... and as such can't be a candidate for this question.
