Not a giant Leonard fan (especailly after he started to acting like a Floyd mayweather) but although he was prime, did fight Duran like an idiot to prove a point.

    But Duran kicked his ass:good

Beating Leonard was one of the biggest upsets in boxing history imo. Duran was pure rage for 1 fight.

Plus, I don't even consider Duran to be in his prime in the first SRL. The greatest LW ever stepping up to fight a top 20 ATG and he kicked his arse. One of the best wins in boxing history

Duran was in his absolute prime for their first fight at 29 years old. I know he started young, but he was at his apex for that fight.

NOt graet resume, I am Duran fan, but Barkley and Moore? Moore was sick, had tooth ache, and only a few pro fights, Duran also thumbed him in eye at start of bout.
Buchannan was fouled, never given rematch.

Leonard win was biggest, also a great fight was Duran over Lampkin at lightweight.

5 deades is a stretch, he did not fight over even 40 years.

Sorry but I just don't agree. Like u said, he was still relatively young, but once he went up in weight he started to slow, and IMO, he wasn't as good defensively as he had been previously (for me his defence was SERIOUSLY underrated, especially on the inside). From then SRL fight onwards, I don't feel he was as effective in this department. He is considered pretty much the best LW ever, and his LW years were definitely his prime years IMO.

Thats the good thing about Duran's career IMO, everyone has an opinion on him, whether they loved him or hated him

Duran was great, but had oe advantage, a big one, over oppoonenets who fought him in Panama while he was champ. Norigua was dictator, and he would appoint all Panamanian judges for fight, plus referee would be Panamanian. Dicator would sit ringside and cheer for Duran. In other owrds, no one was getting decision, and an occasional foul by Duran would be totaly overlooked. Ray Lamkin gave Duran tough fight till ko loss that sent him to hospital (Mostly due to dehydration) Lamkin had to go for ko in late rounds rather than do bit more boxing if he wanted title.

Moore was thrown to wolves, went in sick after beign forced to fight by managers.

Duran was still prime as welterweight, but after first Leonard fight he want out an dpartied like maniac, after loss in second fight, which to me should have been never fought considering Duran's total lack of conditioning for it, Duran was never same.

I think Hearns would have beaten him any time, any weight. Just bad match up for Duran, and Hearns was great. Better than Duran in fact.
