I know it´s a dumb question but i would really need an answer. Im going take part in a three day tournament this Friday and im expecting at least one off my oppenets to be way out of my league. Its my first amateur bout.
Im guessing going to the body and hard. I have fast legs and move around pretty good but i havent sparred with someone who would move with me and have really fast hands.
So, how do you beat a guy who is better then you in every aspect of the sport?

Well, if he's truly better in every part of the game then you better hope for a ko if not you're screwed.

But if he's just a better boxer boxer - faster hands and feet, throws better combinations, better in and out etc then you have to fight him. Just get in his face and be on him constantly, rough him up as much as the ref allows.

I would say wait for him to come forward at you, don't you go forward ecause he will just outskill and box you how he wants to.

First and foremost, don't give the guy too much respect...of course you have to give every fighter some respect but don't let the perceived gulf in class psyche you out...accomplishing this alone is enough to make most fighters(at the amateur level) beatable. Also, try to find some advantage(no matter how small) that you may have and milk it for all its worth. Bottom line... Maximize your strengths and don't be scared of ANYONE.

I fought a guy who was a better boxer than me. I turned it into an inside fight and a bit dirty, really unsettled him.

Anytime I've sparred with someone better than me, I've learned to rough them up, walk into them, be right in their face. Short hard shots to the side of the head and the body.

If you do this and aren't in shape, they'll kill you. It tires them out, but it tires you faster. But if you're in shape then just shove them around. Their shots might not score sometimes if they're throwing while off balance/falling backward.

And yeah, set up the body shots.

Yup, it's already been said. ROUGH THEM UP.

Being stronger is a big advantage here, it allows you to bully people. Something I would add though, is make sure you're aware of the ropes. Try and get your opponent up against them and keep him there, if you have the strength advantage you can probably do some heavy damage.

Pressure and do some dirty stuff to keep him off of his game.

If he is better, more physically gifted, AND meaner than you? You are screwed.

Fitness, if you're alot fitter than him you can get on top of him in the later part of the fight. If he has more talent and also trains like a beast then you're probably ****ed !

Firstly it's not a dumb question at all. Having a strategy to beat fighters who are a class ahead of you is very important, as you will undoubtely come across lots of guys who are better than you in your amateur career.

To answer your question, what the others said. Make sure you're super conditioned as it's no good having no stamina and being the lesser fighter as well. Also, if he tires at the end you may be able to work him over if you're still feeling fresh (although in your first fight you're gonna be feeling ****ed after about 1 minute of action). Punch power, rough him up, make it so he fears taking your shots.

As a lot of other people have already said, just be rough with them and also hope for a KO. And for future bouts try and build up your stamina, because you can rough them up and pressure them at a greater rate than they'd normally be comfortable going at.
