it is commonly seen that the most likely type of fighter to beat PBF would be a pressure fighter, who can get inside him and rough him up. Well, that failed meausrably with Hatton as hatton simply failed to succeed even when on the inside.

A fighter simply having incredibly quick hands i dont think would work against Floyd as floyd has to much speed and intelligence combined to outwork and outbox almsoy anyone.

So what do you think would be the best type of opponent against PBF?

I think the best type of fighter would be large framed boxer with enourmous power in both hands....thomas hearns like i guess.

Williams - 10inch reach advantage, 4inch height advantage, more stamina, higher workrate, stronger, nearly as fast

Its not about a particular style, its about bringing enough to the table to beat him

There is no such thing as a style beating Floyd. Whatever style it is, you need to be AMAZING at that style. It is highly likely that you need to be AMAZING at many different styles because Floyd will mix it up with the best in any place - off the ropes, ring centre, on the inside, front foot etc

Someone who can also run, same quickness, handspeed, footwork and enough power to hurt Floyd. I don't think Cotto qualifies to beat Mayweather.

I dont see anyone around 140-154 that is talented enough today to be even a 50-50 matchup for PBF.

However there were some not that long ago.

DLH had a very close fight with him. The DLH of 5 years ago at 147 could have gotten a UD. A younger mosley as well although he had defensive lapses. Winky back at 154 would have UDed him as well.

They say a good bigger fighter will beat a good smaller fighter. PBF is a small guy at 147-154. They dont have to be more talented than him, but someone much larger who is also very good will beat him. There just isnt that fighter out there today.

These days there isnt much out there. Spinks could provide an awkward and boring fight but I think PBF would still counter him and win.

The Cotto fight is the biggest fight out there and has to happen. I expect PBF to win by UD but the fight needs to happen.

There are different kinds of pressure fighters...Hatton who wrestles, punches, hugs because he's a wrestler..then you have pressure fighters like Vazquez, Pavlik, Diaconu, and Miranda to name a few that get inside and actually throw punches..punches meant to destroy what they hit and lots of them...The fact that this difference needs to be explained to a claimed boxing fan is more than laughable... it's sad:-( I'm glad Cortez kept Ricky from wrestling in the fight..The end result is what happened when Ricky was forced to fight and not wrestle..a KO

But Mayweather is an excellent fighter because he fights using his brain.

The only type of fighter that could possibly defeat Floyd would be one that fought with a Rocky Marciano mindset - hit with incredible power to parts of the body. The arms, and anything they could. They would also need to possess the chin to take the accurate punching they would receive to deploy this type of strategy. Cotto is the closest but his chin is suspect. He does, though, have heavy hands. He would have to hurt PBF's amrs so he could not raise them, ala Rocky Marciano. However, I don't think Cotto (or anyone in recent times) has THAT much power.

Floyd at this stage is not ducking anyone. It makes no sense to prepare 100% at this point because there are SO many good fighters out there. Cotto and Williams and all will fight it out and then come to him at some point to call him out too much for him to ignore.

Only Floyd can be Floyd at this point, meaning he gets too old, or he just underestimates his opponent. So far, just does not look like that's happening...

It will take fighters the calibre of Duran, Gans, Whitaker, Chavez, Pryor, Napoles, Gavilan, Robinson, R.Leonard, B. Leonard, Hearns, Armstrong, Ross, Canzoneri, McFarland, etc. to beat Floyd.

There isn't anyone out there at the moment NEAR that level, so Floyd won't be beaten for a while.
