It would be too easy for me to say hearns or leonard as they had a natural size advantage over floyd but Ive come up with a fighter who doesnt have a great (if any) size advantage over floyd & who has fought in most of the same divisions as floyd.....

    That man is...... ROBERTO DURAN.

It does show how good mayweather is that I had to dig into my top 10 category for a fighter that Id be confident enough to bet big bucks on beating floyd without any real significant size advantage.

Chavez & whitaker could also pull this off vs floyd but to feel even safer Id put Duran in their with him either at 135 or 147 (although, it would have to be a pre no mas 147 Duran as he was a very hot & cold fighter from no mas onwards.)

I do believe Cotto could have the tools to beat Floyd. I also think Floyd himself might feel this way, too, that's why, when asked about fighting Miguel after the Hatton fight, Floyd avoided the question and talked about concentrating on promotion instead.

I agree with a previous comment about Zab Judah being one of the fighters who came close to defeating him, and we all saw what Cotto did with him. Judah never stood a chance. He did hit Cotto with some good uppercuts, but at the end of the day Cotto absorbed everything he had, then punished him badly. That punch to the nuts was funny as ****, btw. ;)

Mayweather has a 72" reach and Williams 84".

    Mayweather stands at 5' 8" and Williams 6' 1"

12" in reach over Mayweather, and a 5" height advantage.

The best out of the bunch would be Williams. He's the only fighter who I'd be confident about beating Mayweather.

Williams only has reach advantage ..I am curious to see what he does when Floyd is able to get on the inside ..I would love to see that fight I think his reach is the only advantage ..Experience alone is enough to make this a UD for Floyd ..

Cotto has the patience and the skills to make it competitve..To me he has the best chance out of anyone at 147 ..At 154 I only like Forrest ..

I seriously doubt paul has more stamina than floyd. Also, Floyd can match any workrate you throw at him. And he is nowhere near as quick as floyd. the only advantages are the 10inc reach, 4inch height (if he plans to stay at a distance which he wont), and maybe stronger. Remember, floyd is the guy who will spar 15 rounds that are 30mins each, with a fresh partner each round. No ****ing way paul does this. It even seemed paul started to tire against margo in the latter rounds. I remember paul clearly losing 10 and 11 by NOT throwing and all I could think of was him taking a break due to stamina.

The only type of fighters that could beat Floyd are either fighters that have better attibutes than the ones Floyd has i.e. is faster, better foootwork better ring intlegence, better accuracy.

    Or

A fighter who has attributes that negate what Floyd does. Which could be: Pressure, workrate, height, reach. A good jab.

The only fighter I would give a shot at beating Floyd at the moment is Paul Williams.

Cotto will get picked apart when/if the fight happens.

Cotto and Williams has the best chance to beat Mayweather, but even they will lose to him.

you're an idiot. large framed boxer with enormous power LOL!

the person that will beat mayweather has to be a very good boxer or a good boxer who throws a lot. I could see someone like vernon forest outboxing mayweather and I could see someone like paul williams outworking mayweather.

A fighter that can beat Floyd (on points) will have:

    1. A great jab.
    2. A good chin. (Floyd is going to test it)
    3. A decent defense. (Being able to pick off some of Floyd's leads is good)
    4. Stamina to be able to execute in rounds 7-12.
    5. Patience to make Floyd come forward.
    6. Good inside fighting ablities to put Floyd back on the end of the jab.
    7. Above average speed. (Floyd cannot be beaten by someone slow)
    8. Enough power to keep Floyd honest.

Looking at the current top 15 welters....I think Paul Williams has more of these attributes than the others. It's a fight I'd like to see.
