i suppose i'm not being very fair, but when a 'current' fighter beats one of 'the old crowd' it doesn't really mean much to me.
anyone else feel the same way?

i'm talking about the likes of cro cop, tito, big nog, rampage.

i appreciate that they have to win the fight no matter if the opponent is young or old, a win is a win.
so i have to give them respect for getting into the octagon and getting the result.

however when a fight like the big nog one today ends, i find myself thinking that if frank was fighting a younger big nog[prime] and still won, it would really mean something then.

i used to think the same when cro cop lost his ufc bouts.

sometimes you hear the victor going on about how he just beat a legend, but i'm sure in the back of their minds they wonder if the same result would of occured if they'd of fought the prime version.

still, not everyone loses their mma super powers do they? look at randy.

  2. Im sure many people in their prime could beat a pensioner, this doesnt mean that they are any good, it just means that they are a bully. Zuffa has plenty of old guys way past their prime, they use them to legitimize its roster.
