Hi Steve.I have seen eons of fighters in my lifetime. And the prime Beau Jack [aside] from Rocky Graziano, was the greatest action fighter I ever saw.I first saw Beau in the first pro card at ST.Nicholas Arena . I saw him then fight Ike Williams, Bob Montgomery,Henry Armstrong and others in MSG where he was in the main event TWENTY ONE times. It is too bad that the only film usually shown of Jack is his slaughter at the hands of the great Ike Williams in Philly 1948. At that time Beau was in too many wars, right on top of another, and he was starting to slide. What a fighter he was .Strong as a bull throwing, hooks, crosses, uppercuts, bolo punches, togetrher in blinding speed. How good do I rate him? Not the greatest but good enough to whip the likes of a Pernell Whitaker or Mayweather. If he could lick a Henry Armstrong or a larger Fritzie Zivic [twice], his non stop attack would be too much for them. What a golden age of lightweights in his time. Armstrong, Ike vWilliams, Bob Montgomery, Willie Joyce, Tippy Larkin,Sammy Angott, Al Bummy Davis,Allie Stolz, and a host of other great 135 pounders.....
top post . lets not forget that beau jack was also involved in the sorry spectacle that were the battle royals and in these fights weight limits were not the norm so a young beau could end up fighting men weighing 200lbs and over .his fighting style as already said was a non stop attack which is why i put him in my super six thread that was going the other way for me he is a true ATG
ATG in my opinion......He isn't discussed much around anymore......He looks good from the film we have, great heart, very aggressive, fast.......He was good enough to be top in any era...... He could make a top 100 p4p, or a top 20 lightweight.....I think....
