Because Danny Garcia is fighting Thurman next year does not excuse him from turning down Pacquiao

All pac brings is a name. He's on his way out while Thurman is young, hungry undefeated and has more to give at this point then Pacquaio. He's looked at as the best WW by many people and for Garcia to beat him and take his "0" would be better and more meaningful than getting a W over a guy many won't give credit for anyways. Thurman is a better choice, win lose or draw.

 

Thurman is highly overrated. Looked terrible against Bundu, couldn't put away a shot Guerrero, and almost got bodied by an ancient and shot Collazo. Again, Cherry can beat Thurman. He has no shot against a shot Pacquiao.

 

Youre already using the word shot to describe pacquaio. So if Garcia beat Pacquaio you'd be one of the guys trying to discredit the win.

Going the Thurman route is the best way to go. Hell get more credit that way.

 

Pacquiao is shot. Diminished speed, workrate, stamina, and chin. It's just that when you're that elite, it's enough to beat guys that are world class, but not elite.

 

Cherry would do WORSE than Rios (who maybe won one round). Cherry has zero infighting ability, isn't good coming forward, and is even slower than Rios.

 

It's not worth it, when he'd just get discredited from people like you.

Like I said, he'll get more credit for beating Thurman than he would for beating Pacquaio.

Cherry turned down a higher pay day against the biggest name in boxing. You can't even argue a case. If Pacquiao was safer than Thurman, for about 2X more money, he'd have taken the fight. Use your brain, kid.

Agreed, but I think he could have fought them both. Even if he feels Pac -> Thurman in a row is too much, he could have gone Pac in November - (easier opponent March) - Thurman August/September.
