so we all just saw what happened to aj i don't think anyone expected that but this shows how many levels usyk is levels above everyone else this generation of heavyweights i mean he dominated dubois if he beats fury again and goes on to rematch dubois i don't see how dubois beats usyk he got brutally dominated by usyk the first fight so if usyk doesn't retire this year if he beats fury i think he has a very good shot of pulling something really special lets say he beats fury then goes on to beat dubois becoming 2 time undisputed i could see usyk beating every belt holder at cruiserweight maybe he goes into some kind of super series like event where jai, chris, noel and gilberto all fight it out for a shot at the lineal champ in usyk if he beats any of them and become 2 time undisputed in 2 weight classes that's already special enough but at heavyweight theres nobody coming up that could even challenge usyk lets say zhang dubois and parker all hold belt usyk could beat all three of them if bakole is holding some of teh belts hed be by far the hardest to beat but usyk if he doesnt retire has a very good and id say likley shot of become 2 time undisputed at cruiserweight and then beating all the new heavyweights i think in that scenario lets say hes 41 by the time he retires that could put him down as the goat (a lot of yap i know)

So being better than these lumps puts you ahead of Ali etc? Ok

Ali and Louis are always going to be the co-GOAT at heavy. Usyk has a unique legacy for running through the cruisers and unifying at heavy. We will be debating his spot at heavy until the end of time.

Louis has already been pushed aside for Ali, Ali is obviously universally recognised as the GOAT. That's not gonna change in the foreseeable future, for a whole number of reasons.

Meh...some of the old-timers still recognize Louis. But point taken. I agree most say Ali.

Usyk has beaten the best fighters of his generation. Not much more he can do. No matter how good he is/ was, being ranked above Ali and the other old boys seems to be impossible.

In regards to Louis specifically though to quote the Humping Hyena " the passage of time " is against him.

I sort of elaborated more with my following reply because I certainly agree with you. Nobody beats father time though even in memory!

I mean, you have to remember too, that champions are always re-evaluted for the new generation. Ali is ascendent now, but # of title defenses is becoming a thing, because a lot of guys are humping Holmes and WladKlit, who don't really have the impressive names. I could very well see the next generation declaring the 25 defenses the greatest great in boxing history to date, because some ham'n'egger held onto the WBA belt for 20 years and is on the verge of breaking it.

In regards to Ali, along with his accomplishments his legacy is cemented also due to political reasons. Ali has become such a mythical figure that people who know absolutely nothing about boxing would forever deny the existence of any other alternative. A lot like Tyson in more modern times. The legend post retirement grows to an absurd degree.

Too true and this will work against Usyk, in GOAT discussions. He turns pro at 26. Usyk, cleans up at cruiser, does it the hard way, on the road. Against quality opposition but against names unknown outside of true fight fans. He also does it in only a handful of fights due to the tournament format. Then he moves up to heavyweight and becomes undisputed also in only a handful of fights.
Ali turns pro at 18, already with Olympic gold, which would have meant more back then. He has 61 pro fights, fights and builds wins against quality fighters who are well known commodities, so to speak!

Yeah, he's never going to surpass Ali and Louis, but I think everything else is on the table for true fans.

The thing is, I think its possible that had Usyk turned professional much earlier, and had a more standard length career, I think hed have actually given the GOAT title a run for its money. Shame that he started so late.

Any HW that Usyk beat, would lose again and again. Weak era.

Bakole could beat Fury and lose to Kabayel. It does not mean anything.
