hey guys , looking for some info on what you need to do to become a judge/ref I have followed boxing my whole life and had some amatuer fights , but with work n everything i find it hard to be as dedicated as you need to be to become successful . I love the sport and wouldnt mind refereeing & judging , Im quite young and I understand Im not going to be doing world title fights anytime soon. Just wondering if anyone knew what the process is , is there any cost to the individual , is it volunteer or do you get paid , etc maybe even some contacts...
Boxon - Ben K should be able to hook you up Briggs - depends Ams is voluntary, pros is paid. Where do you live?
I live in Sydney. Is there any type of training you have to do for both Obviously starting with Amatuer then how do you proceed to pro;s.
You normally start off doing trial cards as a judge for both. The relevant bodies will inform you how much you need to do. Pick your mark with the ams ie ABA or League and approach them and go from there. The pro boxing in NSW is governed by the Govt Dept Sports and Rec (CSA of NSW), but that is a bit in your future if you intend on ams first
Cos I'm the cleverest **** that ever lived Ozzie. As it's so easy I imagine you and waynesmale will be rushing out today to get one
