Im 6ft tall, when i started boxing i was 15stone, after gym work cardio/weights i put on another stone, i've lost that stone and a bit more i currently weight 14.8st.
would it be advisable to keep losing weight , i still do have quite a large percentage of body fat but am still fit and athletic.

I'm 6Ft tall and I weight 170 went from 250 pounds. go on a good diet work out alot and you will lose the weight takes a bit of time but you'll get there.

if your wanting to fight at 175(12.5 stone) you should weight around 185(13,3 stone) so you can cut the weight the day before the weight in.

    hope this helped.
    Good luck

I don't see why you'd want to do this?

do you think he should aim for light heavy at all? and where do you think he should aim for training weight, weigh in weight and fight weight if you think light heavy is good?

im sorry i figured the reasons for cutting for weigh-in then carb loading up for a fight was common knowledge and was hoping for some different way of looking at things.

If you still have a large amount of bodyfat, then definitely lose it.

It helps you get knocked out easier :good

All the cool kids are doing it...

    Edit:
But yeah seriously I hope to God that someday I get to fight a guy who just cut 10 pounds of water weight for an amateur fight.

You've never competed in your life, so don't even start talking about cutting weight.

im talking about cutting weight? just asking questions.

if people want to state that people are wrong they should atleast state their opinion on whats right.

and its my opinion that youve never competed in your life either, and im more then likely better at boxing then you.

on top of all that im 185 looking to fight at light heavy so i am actually interested in other peoples opinions.

That's not an opinion, it's an assumption, and an incorrect one at that.

Fortunately for us both, your opinion of my boxing skills relative to yours doesn't matter. However, everyone here has seen the video of you getting out maneuvered by a punching bag. So, considering that fact, it's a safe assumption to say that your opinion is unfounded.

just as your statement was an assumption and incorrect one at that.

    everybody?

according to my youtube account its only got about 15 views and most likely from lefty nuthuggers like yourself whom give out unfounder **** advice.

i got one dude tell me my uppercuts are too open and my short rights counters are being smothered by the bag. when i dont throw any upper cuts and the counters are ment to be short and ment to be hitting a target thats coming at me....

then i got another dude telling me that my stance leaves my body wide open when t the same time i got jack dempsey telling me that the full crouch is the best stance for guarding your body......putting aside my own knowledge of how my stance works for me.

    http://www.scribd.com/doc/247258/Championship-Fighting-by-Jack-Dempsey-1950

but im sure they know more then dempsey.......and even though one thing might not work for every one thats just plain wrong when it comes to boxing and every one needs to have the same exact stance because it is the best stance of all time.

but thats not the point, the point is that i would like to know what some other opinions are as far as prepping for a fight.

is just fighting at where you trained the best course of action? as a pro does cutting weight come more into play? do alot of fighteres use a recovery week prior to fighting? and can that recovery week come into play in combination with cutting to make cutting less of a strain on the body?
