Been re-watching a lot of Zab Judah fights. He had so much potential. Such a shame

One of the most gifted fighters of all time that never put it all together.

One of my favourite fighters. Like you say there was so much potential there. Shame.

It’s almost insane to say he didn’t live up to his potential when he became an undisputed champion. But he was that talented and should have accomplished more.

yeah his speed, skills and power was unreal.

Just always was lacking something though. Flawed in the heart, chin & temperament departments.

Judah.... stylish and dangerous, was rarely in a dull fight. Usually fun to watch and a career filled with memories. Miss him in the sport.

Now all is said and done I don't think he can be that disappointed with his career.

He was a 3 time champ. Unified champ (lineal?) at 147.

Often brash and big talking boxer don't take losses well because it deflates their ego so brutally. But even after Tszyu bodied him he continued to be a dangerous fighter.

Took a fun beating against Cotto, where he certainly had his moments.

I would say the one fight that comes to mind where he put it all together was the night he regained the Welterweight title against Spinks in St Louis. I was ringside for that fight and he looked tremendous in a fight against a very tricky opponent that had a hell of a win streak going.

There was around 20 thousand people at that fight that were all very loudly backing Cory. Zab had to take short money (100k) and fight him in his home town to get the rematch and was the underdog against a guy that not only just beat him but a guy that also cleanly beat Mayorga back when it meant something ( Mayorga just beat Forest back to bakc after Forest beat Mosley back to back).

That night he put it all together and basically walked Cory down with a combination of speed and power that you just don't see that often. Zab had much more grit to him than people give him credit for. Definitely a solid fighter with hall of fame talent but I do agree with you that he simply didn't live up to his potential overall. He did on that night in STL.

    Absolutely OP.

In terms of pure, raw natural talent, Judah was GOAT tier. His hand speed, reflexes and foot speed took a back seat to nobody. He was even quicker than PBF but he obviously lacked in other departments.
