Thats not true, Lewis' admitted he would not stand a chance against Tyson at that time. His famous qoute throughout his career was "Im like fine wine I get better with years," or something like that. Lewis was a work in progress, while Tyson was almost complete at the time.
He was taller, heavier and utilized his size much better. What the hell does KO% have to do with it? One clean punch? Oh right, the old "Lewis has no chin" myth again! Look at the list of punchers Lewis beat! Sorry bro, but you don't beat every fighter you've ever faced and the likes of Tyson, Tua, Briggs, McCall, Ruddock, Bruno, etc etc etc if you don't have a chin...unless you have the best defense EVER., His 2 KO losses were more a case of carelessness then lack of chin. Tyson would be jabbed until his head almost falls off. He would be tired out badly by Lewis's size and stung repeatedly by straight rights and uppercuts. Lewis by TKO every time. Lewis is an awful stylistic matchup for both Tyson and Foreman.
Sorry thats wrong i am talking about when they where about 15, you might be talking about when they where older and lewis was still an amateur.
Lewis did say that about Tyson. But so what? If was when they were both kids atsch He didn't say he thought he would lose, he was just like "Damn, I hope I don't have to fight that kid", that doesn't mean ****.
Why is this so hard??...All you have to refer to is Lewis vs. Holyfield. I like Lewis much more than Evander but you have to be a boxing fan Is this a thread worshiping Lewis or an objective thread about Lewis greatness?? The thread title is vague
Goooood luck pinning down an answer for that one :rofl :rofl :rofl Holyfields prime? Well his nuthuggers would probably say his "heavyweight prime" lasted for the second Bowe fight :deal His 2 losses to Bowe, his loss to Moorer and his losses to Lewis are all excused :nut
I won't say that this is a thing untrue, but I will say that focus is a tangible, and the fact that Lewis was not always "focused" is not a thing in his favour (compare him to Hollyfield for example, who physically should not have been able to compete with Lewis but was able to do so because of mental/strategy). I have Lewis at #4. I have Ali, Louis and Liston above him. I think that all of these men would beat him. Also, and this must be understood, if you ran Liston-Shavers 6 times, I would expect Liston (great chin) to win all six - Lewis would lose one or more. His chin was good, but it wasn't great. Lewis is an incredible package. But he was sometimes to reticent in the ring in addition to being a little supspect in the whiskers department.
Didn't Tyson's trainer said that they sparred together when they were 17 and they had to take Tyson out of the ring, because Lewis got to grips with Tyson, was outboxing him with ease and was toying with him....in the end making Tyson lose his rag and shout 'Hit me, you mother****er'
I have seen the video mate and he says that after the first round of sparing and then he came out and got the better of tyson. This was at the same time when cus said they would fight each other in the senior ranks.
Yet Lewis in his prime had serious trouble with both Bruno and Briggs almost being knocked out him himself early on, so your telling me a prime Tyson couldnt do what both Bruno and Briggs were able to do? Lewis' is a great fighter, but his legs always buckled when blasted with a good punch, a prime Tyson would of did that and more. I respect your opinion and could see your point be niether you nor I will ever know what really wouldve happend between these fighters in there prime, so the best we can do is speculate on what would happen.
Although I think Tyson would certaily pick one of in a series v Lewis I think Lennox would dominate overall...as for Foreman, that is a horrible pick. Lewis is a world class timer of his man and Foreman is a slow puncher. Lewis would beat him rather easily.
