Yes, fair point. Also, check Lewis v Grant and how he reacts to being violently attacked. Foreman is better than Grant of course, but Grant had a cracking chin and he was all over the place.
I'm convinced that Holyfield lost the 3rd Bowe fight and the Moorer fight because he was having complications due to steroid use. He barely fought in either fight. He was a different fighter against Tyson and Moorer in the rematch. In 99' Holy was competitive against Lewis at 37. He was a blown up cruiser. It's crazy to think that he was prime. Why is it ok to say that a 37 year old Lewis was old and out of shape against Vitali but not ok to think the same about a fighter that was fighting for titles 4-5 years before Lewis was even a pro.
some posters are just out of control...or they dont know any better Id like to believe that its the former its a ****n revelation when someone says hey Lewis is Top 5 ATG and hell yes thats ****in good!!!
He might not have been in his prime but lewis wasn't young either and holyfield is still fighting now.
Where is the source for this besides you two pricks imaginations? That's not the story from Lewis' mouth.
Many people overrate tyson way too bad. It is far too common to hear "Boxer A hurt him, so what do you think Tyson would do to him" Like Tyson is the end all, be all of power punchers. You could also say well Mike couldn't KO this guy, so how would he ko this guy, blah blah. Corley hurt Floyd, what do you think Oscar would do to him Torrez hurt Cotto, Judah would kill him It can go on and on.
This quote tells you all you need to know... Tyson at best held his own with Lewis, at worst he couldn't cope. If they stopped the sparring because Tyson was getting too angry and Lewis was laughing, it suggests that Lewis was dominating and mocking him....as the quote I posted earlier says too.
Its sparring, I heard alot of crazy sparring stories. I heard one where Vitali was knocked down by one sparring partner and out by another while training for the Rahman fight, who knows whos telling the truth. The real match is in the ring with no head gear on and fighting 100% as hard as they can go.
In regard to the 37yr old Lewis that fought Vitali.....he was out of shape and sucking wind within like 3 rounds, and the heaviest of his career. Why is that even a question?? You don't need any more proof then your what your eyes saw that night, it was the WORST Lennox Lewis looked. I'm not saying Holyfield was "prime" when he fought Lewis, but he was nowhere near shot or even as past it as he is said to be
Yeah, he got Holyfields left overs. Beating a guy 14 years past his prime is a real hell of a accomplishment let me tell, I guess that win is Lewis' claim to fame.:yep
I would say his claim to fame is fighting every good heavyweight that would fight him over hsi career might provide that claim to fame, if only chicken bowe would have stepped upto the plate lewis could have koed him and added another big name to the resume.:deal
