I have just got my hands on a beer barrell. It was knocking around outside the pub and i thought id grab it in case i could use it.

It is empty but can be filled as i have a stopper for it, is there anything that this could be used for? and if so what things would be recommended?

    Cheers

I remember in the last Rocky movie he was hefting a keg over his head but I have no clue what the intention of that exercise was..

Anyone want to shed some light?

Overhead presses with a keg are a fantastic exercise for head to toe strength development.

My personal favorite, is to throw the keg overhead. I do this on the beach near my home. Stand infront of the keg with your body position similair to that of the starting position for a deadlift, grab either end of the keg and heave like a mofo! Explode from the slightly squat position as hard as your can, and try to keep your arms straight as you launch the keg up and over your head. If you ever watch the worlds strongest man, they do similair things with haybales, heavy kettlebells etc. You will not find a better explosive posterior chain exercise anywhere.

I must add, please ensure that there is nobody too close to you as you are performing this exercise, unless it's someone you don't like!

Ah yes the keg throw. My mate was practicing this move in a drunken rage and it left a dent on his wall.
