This content is protected This content is protected I watched this excellent card back in 1985 on my local TV station before we even had Cable. It was on Channel 20 in Washington DC and Channel 45 in Baltimore. Those were the days. Other good fights that happened via Syndication that year were Billy Costello v. Lonnie Smith and Greg Page v. Tony Tubbs. Michael Spinks and Dwight Braxton were scheduled for a rematch in early 84 that was to be televised in syndication but it was cancelled. BTW: There was a lot of talk about Spinks and Deleon fighting in 1984-85. KO even picked Deleon to win. Deleon was much more skilled than Ratliff here, but fought off the ropes too much. He should have boxed laterally more. Maybe he wasn't in the best of shape. This was a huge upset. Ratliff did have a mammoth 85 inch reach and had only lost to HW contenders and future champions Tim Witherspoon and Pinklon Thomas before this fight. Spinks went on to fight Larry Holmes in his next fight, which occurred only 3 months later. Though training with noted Nutrition expert Macky Shilstone, he gained 30 lbs the right way for the Holmes fight.
We used to have a microwave network in Dallas that carried those fights.....sometimes in Hotels too. That logo on the Carlos DeLeon v Alonso Ratcliff fight is the 'Don King' Network.
You're right it was Don King network but it was syndicated. It was a legit feed as it appeared in the TV guide.
