I've been following boxing since about 2006/2007 and was wondering before setanta came along and showed loads of international boxing did sky show it all or did us lot in the uk miss out on a lot of boxing? If it wasn't for boxnation now we would hardly see any overseas boxing.

They used to when i was younger, Not loads and loads but they'd have the odd show. Sky boxing in the 90's/early noughties was far better..

So they wouldn't of ever showed international boxing most weekends? I'm sure they showed most of cotto's early world title fights. I remember watching cotto on sky before I got massively into boxing.

Oh yeah they had plenty of international cards from the States when i was younger. Likes of Sweet Pea then Morales and MAB then onto your Cotto's and Margarito's. It's gone stale though, instead of twice per month your looking at 1 every 2 months..

In the early days it was mainly Tyson and a select few fighters on Sky Movies which was the only channel behind the pay wall at the time. They showed nigh on every big American card throughout the nineties but it curtailed off somewhat after 2000.

They used to show more than they do now. Too often with sky though they would try and make fights ppv which put a lot of people off subscribing. I think the lowest point for me was after a string of big fights going to ppv I dropped all the sports apart from sports 1. Friday fight night was always on sports 1 so I thought id save a little bit. A few weeks went by and they moved the show to sports 2.
Sky started going down hill as soon as they made Bruno v McCall ppv.

They used to show it all in the 90s and and early noughties. I grew up watching boxing on sky and I saw ALL the marquee names and others on Sky. I've seen everyone from Azumah Nelson Felix Trinidad to Floyd Mayweather then Setanra came along and ****ed that up and it's never been the same.

It's abysmal now. Sky are a shadow of their former selves today

Surely Sky could still bring us 1 US card a month? The TV rights for a US card can't be that expensive can it?

Yes it was and Sky once again made a **** up of the commentary. The Sho version is much better.

Well it was cheap when Sky were the only game in town. Setanta came in a gazumped everyone and the price for US cards for the UK market has been higher ever since.

When Setanta came along I remember fans being happy about it because Sky were **** at that point.
