Apart from when it's a Canelo thread, right? Robberies: GGG 1 GGG 2 Dubious scorecards: Lara Trout Mayweather Bivol What a fighter.
Ortiz is a damn good, young fighter. But, I suppose it does nothing to prop Haney up, so you better knock him down a peg...huh? China chin Haney would go life and death with Ortiz.
Ortiz was a nobody a sparring partner, this was supposed to be a showcase for loma but it turned out to be a close fight. Don't get mad at me because you don't like how loma looked against a guy he was supposed to school and I'm pointing it out. Haney would beat Ortiz probably easier than loma did.
Bit of a harsh assessment all the hard cores knew who he was and Loma was coming off a long lay off and still fought an undefeated kid.
To be fair it happens all the time, there's always going to be moments in boxing when a fighter that most didn't know too much about initially surprises everyone and ends up giving the favorite a hard fight, win or lose. Azumah Nelson was a complete nobody with only 13 fights when he fought Salvador Sanchez and he gave him a helluva fight. Recently Argi Cortes gave Juan Francisco Estrada a really hard fight. I think it says more about how impressive Ortiz was and I can see him being a name in the future. I give Loma props for picking on a young undefeated fighter instead of a much easier washed up fighter for him to look good against after a long layoff. Not an easy thing to do.
