Before you rate Ward over Calzaghe

It's called make a move up one division and get that #1 spot. Fight in America. Make your name known. Get that rank. Fight anyone with a high ranking and/or title if there is one to get.

 

Froch is several levels below Ward or Calzaghe. I agree, Ward can only fight those available to him but he could have easily beaten Froch in Nottingham with Miss Cordingly reffing and his mother on the judging panel.

Ward needs to make fights that at least give the impression that he's giving some advantage away, not make them so that he holds every single card.
It would be a shame to see his career, when it's all over, tarnished in the same way as JCs and RJJs are, despite their obvious talents.

 

Because we are talking about fighting ROY JONES JR, Light-Heavyweight Champion, not Super-Middle-Weight Champion (anymore).

Calzaghe wasn't in his division so who are you to call him out?

First step up and show the world how serious you are by moving up a division against a top opponent and secure your spot in America because that's where the fight would have been held.

You go to Roy; Roy doesn't come to you. Not when your title means more and you are the P4P #1 in the Sport.

He was *called out* by Dawson. Dawson agreed to the weight. Dawson could've put in place any sort of demands and made them public that would've been fair (neutral venue, catchweight, etc.). Dawson simply made a bad strategic move and you can't fault Ward for simply going along with what Dawson wanted.

Every top fighter Ward has a win over, has a loss that dates back to Calzaghe somewhere. Every one

Wards biggest win was Kessler, who a past prime Calzaghe beat when undefeated and prime
Ward beat Froch, who lost to Kessler, who lost to Calzaghe
Ward beat a weight weakend Dawson, who lost to Pascal who lost to Froch, who lost to Kessler, who lost to Calzaghe
Ward beat Bika who a past prime Calzaghe beat when Bika was active

Calzaghes win over Kessler is greater than Wards

Calzaghes win over undefeated Lacy is greater than Frochs, as Lacy was a favourite leaving a trail of destruction, whilst Froch had lost only a couple of fights before, before that some felt he looked lucky to Dirrell and was coming off a MD win over a 43 year old SMW journeyman

Calzaghes win over Mitchell was a better SMW win than Wards over Dawson

Calzaghes win over Bika was greater than Wards

Then dont forget that Calzaghe has wins over other fighters who have held SMW titles like Woodhall, Brewer, Veit and a win over Eubank, which is a far greater win than anything Ward has, then add in all of the top 10 SMWs Calzaghe beat and then the LHWs in Jones and Hopkins that Calzaghe beat, there is no competition.

Calzaghe is far greater than Ward and was fighting in a better era. Look at the current SMWs and see how most of them havent done much or beaten anyone of note
