Mine was lopsided in favor of Calzaghe, as I was not impressed with Hopkins' one-punch style and constant holding. Joe was the better man. I scored it 117-110, giving Hopkins the first two rounds and the obvious point subtracted from Calzaghe's score. Post'em up!
Clear and decisive win for Calzaghe 116-111 What is depressing is that Bhop seems like he could have done more. He took rds off. Over acted the low blows and didnt even appear tired or marked at the end of the fight.
114-113 Nard Had it a draw, except for the KD. I just thought that even though Joe threw more, he didn't actually land ANY memorable shots all nights, and even his little slap-tastic flurries usually ended with a hard body or head shot by Nard. The rounds that I gave Joe were more for the fact that Nard didn't do enough, more so than Joe being effective. There wasn't one round where Joe put any kind of hurt on Nard.
116-111 for me. I was impressed with Hopkins early on but he couldn't hack the pace. Calzaghe did a great job adjusting; that's twice in a row he's tried to box and found swarming more to his liking. 36 years old and still a world class swarmer. What a guy!
Round 1, Hopkins 10-8 Round 2, Calzaghe 10-9 Round 3, Hopkins 10-9 Round 4, Calzaghe 10-9 Round 5, Calzaghe 10-9 Round 6, Calzaghe 10-9 Round 7, Calzaghe 10-9 Round 8, Calzaghe 10-9 Round 9, Calzaghe 10-9 Round 10, Even, 10-10 Round 11, Calzaghe 10-9 Round 12, Calzaghe 10-9 Calzaghe wins 117-111
116-111..The most unimpressive five point margin in a while... Look Im not making any excuses here..I cannot stand nard! But Hopkins is OLD...I mean OLD.. If he could have thrown 10 more punch a round he would have won by a landslide.. Again HOP is 43..and fights like 45 no excuse..he lost..but its reality and Steward needs to stop!
I had it 115 to 112 for Hopkins. I felt that Joe's punches were frequently ineffective and often missed entirely, while B-Hop landed clean punches. I had B-Hop winning most of the early rounds and he had the 10-8 round in the first. There were some close rounds though, so I can see it going for JC as well.
Actually, I viewed this fight as the inverse of the Kessler fight. Calzaghe's brawling left him open then, so he started using his legs more and accentuated his speed. Anyway, I agree on the pace factor, and that's what frequently happens when one fighter has his legs and the other doesn't.
