Sauerland Event has announced that Juergen Braehmer will face Marcus Oliviera for the vacant WBA light heavyweight world championship. Date and venue to be announced. Current WBA champion Beibut Shumenov is apparently being promoted to WBA super champion, making the WBA regular title vacant. Shumenovs last mandatory defense was over three years ago. :rofl:rofl:rofl you cant make this stuff up. WOW WBA is pure garbage and their titles are a joke.
Absolute garbage. Shumenov is one of the most despicable fighters out there, he "won" his title fraudulently via horrible robbery, and has since defended sporadically against a series of cans. His last fight was in June 2012, and I was sure he was going to be finally stripped of his belt. There were rumours out there he wasn't even interested in boxing anymore! Not sure what kind of pics he has of Gilberto Mendoza, but this is shocking, even by WBA standards.
He actually got robbed of it the previous time with Campillo. He should've been a champ in his 9th pro bout instead of 10th (which is still impressive). They're even. I'm not saying him getting the nod in Shumenov vs. Campillo II was right, but if you want to "correct history" by rendering fair verdicts then he just becomes champ a few months earlier.
