Just read on another site about this guy.Fought and decisioned Montell Griffin in only his 6th fight and just recently fought and won his 7th bout, this time against Epifanio Mendoza, who faced Lacy and Dawson in his last two fights. Can anybody shed more light on this guy?
Well it looks like it, eh? Not many guys can claim those scalps within 7 fights. Sadly I've only seen a few short clips of him in action, but he's impressive for sure. Also worth noting is he is self-managed. This would explain the aggressive matchmaking. I think we can expect him to be fighting for titles very soon.
Doesn't seem like a joke, no doubt. A little too confident, I think. Over-confidence is a bad thing in boxing. We'll see how good he is when he starts to face some top ten guys.:good
I also wondered if he hasn't bitten off a little too much too soon, as it's practically unheard of to have a prospect do his own promotion from day one. One would think he'd have to partner with one of the big boys so he can focus completely on fighting once he hits the top 10 level...it's also rare to see someone split his fights up literally halfway around the world like he's done so early in his career. Overall, this guy is one of the most intriguing prospects I've heard about in awhile for all of those reasons along with the resume. He's definitely one to keep an eye on, and there's no way he can keep staying as under the radar as he's been.
I guess he should have fought Eric Talnas(2-77) or Jeff Hookey(4-59) instead of Griffin.Would that have made you happy then?? Amazing that fighters who take a risk dont get any credit at all from a certain section of us fight fans here on esb! And dont be naive: facing a former contender who is a bit over the hill is a high risk for a fighter with just 5 pro fights.Thats for sure!
:good It never fails to amaze me the level of stupid ****ness that is displayed here. The kid has less than 10 pro fights, takes on a former champion, title challenger, beats by UD over 12 ROUNDS, he is fighting 12 rounds already, and then some bloody git has the **** to say the fight means nothing because Griffin is old. :verysad If you all cant appreciate a promising fighter trying to get the best experience possible and fight dangerous guys, then you can go **** yourself
