Beibut Shumenov is a 6'2 31 year old Cruiserweight with a 16-2 10 KO's record. Born in Shymkent, Kazakhstan and fighting out of Las Vegas, Nevada, USA. Beibut is one fascinating dude he's the son of a Construction Tycoon in Shymkent, he was poisoned by his aunt with bad milk as a child, had to have an IV stuck in his skull to save his life, they were told he'd always be a weakling and never grow big and strong, well he proved every one wrong by not only growing big and strong and by becoming a world champion in only his 4th fight. He was a big fan of Karate movies and was drawn to action sports at a young age. “I started watching Bruce Lee movies,” Shumenov recalls. “I wanted to be like him. I started taekwondo, then karate, wrestling, Muay Thai, Greco-Roman wrestling, judo and then boxing.” But as he was training as an amateur he was also becoming a Lawyer, a Millionaire and learned to speak 5 languages, he really is a Jack Of All Trades. Not to mention he's trained himself for stretches during his career. Currently he's living in a 9,654 sq ft house on Coast Line Drive in northwest Las Vegas. As a pro he has had some ups and downs his first loss came at the hands of the severely underrated Gabriel Campillo in a very close MD but beat him in the rematch via SD:blood and then still training himself he took on Hopkins and in spite of some early success in the first part of the fight the old veteran took over and even managed to drop Shumenov late. But instead of never corrected his mistakes he made the choice to stop draining himself and move up to CW and finally get a trainer, he hired Ismael Salas the Cuban trainer of none other than Guillermo Rigondeaux, and only after a few months with him he's a completely changed fighter. He brilliantly schooled BJ Flores fighting off of the backfoot looking light on his feet and made BJ look like even more of an amateur than he already is. So hopefully this new and improved Beibut can keep getting better and maybe win a belt at CW, although Lebedev who he's he mandatory of is a tough ask for anyone. So Check Out Counselor Shumenov in Action.:toney:toney:toney:toney

Is he mandated now? I'd like to see him against Usyk rather than Lebedev.

Yeah he did a number on Flores last night, and he actually fought similar to Usyk doing it.

That could be an interesting match up then. Haven't seen the fight yet but not sure if Shumenov could possess any serious thread to Lebedev

He was greatly improved albeit a bit of a runner last night, he may be able to outpoint Lebedev but I still Denis takes it, most likely by KO. But I'd give him a better chance now than before.

He was a runner last night but **** me Flores was clueless, as shown in the exchange before round 12
    Trainer-"Cut the ring off"
    Flores-"How?"

Shumenov is a boring fighter, but a really really interesting person.

I totally agree, he's very enigmatic.

BTW, isn't it just "Kazakh" not "Kazakhstani"?

Put the bottle down man.... Lebedev beats this guy with ease... Beating Flores isn't exactly the hardest thing to do in the world. Shumenov could barely take punches from Hopkins, can you imagine what Lebedev would do to him? He stops him... Early and brutally.

Flores should put the gloves down, and stick to commentary.
