Beibut Shumenov TKO6 William Joppy (vid) - still wants unification

What Shumenov needs to do to raise his profile is get back on American TV and win in dominant fashion. His best chance of doing that is to actually sacrifice one of his own fighters that he promotes - the guy who was actually supposed to fight Joppy on the Shumenov-Braehmer undercard before Braehmer pulled out: Gayrat Ahmedov.

The guy's a hellish little puncher, but if Shumenov has shown one distinguishing trait so far it's been his chin so getting KOed shouldn't be a risk...and he's got the skill and enough height on his boy to comfortably outbox and maybe even stop him depending on how Ahmedov's chin is. He should let American audiences get a couple of looks at him and start salivating over what a beast he looks like, and then take him to school in a main event. That should make him attractive enough to ask the main players at 175 to dance.

His last 1st round KO was a couple of fights ago vs. Dallas Vargas (a former prospect who had participated in the first Showtime super middleweight tournament) in what was supposed to be the co-feature of Shumenov-Uzelkov but for some reason ESPN2 decided not to televise it. :conf There is no video of that...or of Ahmedov's win against a late replacement (a very unfortunate light middleweight) on the Shumenov-Joppy undercard. This guy would make for good TV, and a good way for Shumenov to make himself look good due to styles.
