    Eh...

The last kd Juarez suffered at the hands of Dogboe was harder than either of the ones he suffered at the hands of Donaire, or the one against Pagara. He did well to rise from it, but looked wobbly and glassy eyed. Weeks could, and maybe have gone through the mandatory eight count, but that was hard fall and I'm not at all sure if Juarez could have pulled himself together in time, let alone made it through the rest of the frame.

In short, it's not even close to being the worst stoppage I've seen, and not really all that bad of a call given what had transpired in the previous four rounds, and how Juarez looked at that moment.

I'll give it a try next week. Hopefully after picking Claressa Shields that'll blow up in my face as well, I'm trying to jinx her annoying manly pompous loudmouth Predator looking fat ass.:sisi1

I mean sure you as a fan come into it with that contextual knowledge but it isn't part of a ref's job to have seen each fighter's entire back catalogue.

This was the second gigantic, authoritative counter left hook knockdown in under 5 rounds. Weeks might have jumped the gun but from his perspective, putting aside any foreknowledge of Juárez's ability to soak up damage, I can understand the impulse.

I'm not really feeling overly critical of it, more dissapointed and underwhelmed than anything. You'll certainly never see me put it on any "worst" list or anything ridiculous like that.

What a beast Claressa is fighting an undefeated fighter this early in her short career, I'm sure that weather beaten crotchety 41 year old crone will give her everything she can handle and more.

...gosh, I hope there are no poor saps planning on returning to a spoiler free thread & faux-live RBR coverage to coincide with the beIN Sports feed in a couple of hours, after having seen the OP and then never checking in to see the updates...

To be fair, Tori Nelson is technically a world champ, albeit in a thin and empty division even by customarily low women's boxing standards.

Trying to think of other counter hook kd's/ko's that cause a guy to freeze for a moment before falling onto his back in slow motion. This wasn't as authoritative as something like Pettaway/Brown, but you get the idea. Any other examples that you can think of, @IntentionalButt?

Actually, germane to his name being mentioned so much here...

Donaire's star-making peach of a check hook, in Darchinyan I:

    Good call.

Dogboe's counter wasn't quite the automatic world ender in comparison-though maybe even more dramatic due to it causing Jaurez to be suspended in mid-air for a split second. Both star-making hooks were undeniably monstrous, though.

Edit: Thought Weeks officiated both; but Eddie Claudio officiated Donaire-Darchinyan.

Juarez should have stayed down a bit longer, to try and get his bearings better. That was a huge shot he got hit with. He got up but couldn't stand steady, and Weeks looking into his eyes waved it off. I won't call it a bad stoppage when the guy can't stand steady. Could Weeks have told him to walk towards him? Sure. Have guys in worse shape been allowed to continue, sure. Was it a disappointing stoppage, sure. As fight fans we like to see punishment, with no care for the boxer's own health. Being so unsteady still, he possibly would have taken another big shot, or maybe he would have survived and fought on, who knows, but you can't be mad at the ref for protecting the fighter.

Also, though it wasn't a counter hook, Juarez fell in a very similar way to Buster Drayton following his demolition at the hands of Julian Jackson.
