Muñoz is pouncing all over Taborda, not giving her a chance to wind up any more of those hooks. Big one-twos by Muñoz. Taborda is rocked, seeking refuge on the ropes, hooking wildly off them. Muñoz just navigates her way in, leaping past Taborda's fists and planting her own left hooks (along with powerful downcast rights tossed from shoulder-height) on the button. Taborda eats a two-piece and is down and OUT!

That was Muñoz's fiftieth match...and while there has been some filler in there, about three dozen of those were conducted for some form of quasi-meaningful belt (ranging from Mexican national to North American titles, and later Silver and full World championships), and she has fought some decent names & become a 2-division world titlist along the way, and she avenged her only career loss (which came all the way back in 2007). She has done pretty well for herself at 28, and sure knows how to close the show in style - although it has to be considered worrisome to suffer even a flash knockdown at the hands of a gal that has literally never halted anybody. :!:

 

I wouldn't mind seeing a showdown between Muñoz and countrywoman Mariana "Barbie" Juárez, who is currently rated #1 in the division even though she holds the lesser WBC Intercontinental belt.

Juárez, 43-8-4, has fought Taborda on two occasions, taking a split decision and then drawing in the rematch.. :think

 

What did you think of Gorham? See much in him, or agree with my assessment that El Guerrero Yaqui is pretty much just spent (despite being two years Gorham's junior, chronologically) and happened to - just barely - deplete his entire gas tank first?
