Being honest here, I personally wouldn't mind Floyd vs Mayfield as his 49th bout.

They should however expect the numbers to be at an all time low. I'd still buy but I wouldn't be that excited about it.

The man has done it all, he has really nothing more ever to prove.

He's beaten Pac easily, Canelo easily, Cotto relatively easily, Marquez easily, etc etc.

Who else is really out there that's worth a damn in the long run?

He deserves a tin can, it's long due.

If he does something big for #50, then fine.

    But Mayfield would be fine.

Even if he retires after Mayfield, whatever.

He really has nothing more ever to prove. He's been slipping and he's close to 40.

I don't want to see him losing to someone he would have easily beat in his prime, that would be saddening.

No. I'd rather see Berto, if those are the choices. At least we know there is some history. He's been the gateway to Floyd on 2 occasions.

Didn't I answer your second question?

Yeah I'd buy, whoever he fights.

Hes getting paid fortunes for his fights, and i think its reasonable to expect his opponents and matchups justify his pay.

Of course, mayweather fans will support anything, but im talking about the average boxing fan.

Imagine how funny the promotion for the fight would be - them trying to pass Mayfield off as a legit threat :rofl

Yeah, someone who earns FORTY MILLION PER FIGHT "deserves" a tin can!

Jesus, you really will buy anything that he sells.

To get paid that much he should be fighting THE VERY BEST EVERY TIME. No excuses!

He's brought us the best fights for the last few years.

Is one lower tier opponent that much of a farce?

Ffs, he just came off a huge 4.4 million, 74m gate Pac win. :huh

All prize fighters fight lower tier opposition from time to time. It's nothing out of the ordinary.

Brook? I'm not a huge fan of Kell but he'd be better than Mayfield or Berto at this point.

Not if he expects people to pay for it he doesn't. Plus, he's the best fighter in the world, it doesn't do anyone any favors to see him vs subpar opposition.

You don't want to see him lose cause it would make you sad? I get that him taking a life altering beating would be sad (Ali/Holmes) but him losing wouldn't be sad, it's boxing, fighters lose.

All that said I doubt that he fights Berto or Mayfield. My guess is that they're negotiating with a bunch of opponents and using this as leverage. Floyd takes difficult fights on average so it would be an extreme departure for him to choose one of these two.
