Right, well i haven't been boxing long, hence i haven't sparred that much..
Maybe just slightly upwards of 10 times or so..

I was sparring against a guy with alot more experience than me, and as far as i'm aware i was doing ok-ish for the most part..So i had him in the corner, threw a combination at him then moved out a little..Then all of a sudden i got hit with a right hand to the nose and a left hook which was square on my jaw..
After that i started to see stars a little bit, but anyways..Point of the post is that i was pretty happy with myself because i kept my composure completely and finished off the round excellently..

so yeah, anyone else care to share their stories of the first time they got hit really hard/wobbled/knocked down etc..?

First time I sparred in a new gym (after being in a gym with coaches who knew nothing) I sparred a guy three years older, got put on my arse, straight back up and continued. How I hated my bad habit of looking at my feet.

I've grown out of it, getting headaches after sparring meant that something had to change. I'm southpaw too, I don't get hit cleanly much these days. Head up, hands up, chin down.

Yeah, i don't do it as much now..Just a one off now and again, and i definitely need to start focusing on defence more..I suppose up until now with sparring it's just been kind of getting used to it, finding range etc..

Only been stunned twice, but first time I got hit with a looping right by one of my coaches that I didnt see coming. He didn't throw it that hard cause I was still reletively new and he's 25lbs heavier but I didn't see it.

My legs stayed solid I just had like a second of bright light, then a second of dark and then I was fine and we kept going. Also got ringing in my ears.

Been dropped but that was down to terrible footwork and was well off balance. Not shook or hurt. Got hit in a fight my left leg started moving on its own. It was the wierdest feeling in the world. I still maintain to the day I was not hurt at all and knew what I was doing but my mody just decided **** this and went walkabout.

I've been rocked pretty decent at least 5 or 6 times...and four of them were in my lone fight lol. None of them seemed to effect my legs, just a split second flash of light and s loud noise. The only one that was bad was in the fight when i blocked a right hand. The heel of my palm where the bone point is went right into my jaw. both of my hands immediately went numb and stayed that esy for five seconds or so. that really freaked me out.

I've never been dropped but I definitely made mistakes in the early going with turning away from the other guys shots.

Everytime you get hit you rock a little if its anything more then a tap. I've got a pretty good chin I think only Steve Murray ever knocked me down properly and i've fought and sparred some top guys. The worst I was ever rocked was when I was about 13 and I was sparring a lad a few years older and a lot heavier- we were going heavy and he nailed me with a big right hand right on the chin- was well gutted. Got through it but afterwards think I cried. :)
