We all know Vitor wouldn't back down even if Johnson came 20 pounds over. Anthony will get no respect out of this fight win or lose.

I hope Belfort wins convincingly at home, he's gonna get major credits for winning an ''unfair'' fight.

Beltfort weighed in at 205.6 and Johnson is 211 according to DW's twitter.

Belfort should have just said "no thanks".

Not in the slightest.. Gatti weighed a pound over at the weigh in instead of 12 like Johnson, but I see what you mean about fighter weight come fight night.

You're reply in the Popkins' thread help add some clarity to the situation.. Thanks.

According to Dana's tweet, Johnson had to weigh under 205 until noon Rio time.. What a mess

And given up a chance to fight in his home country? Sounds more like a punishment to me.

This is strategy by Johnson, no matter what the punishment financially, a win over Vito would put him in the top for future matchups. I hope Vitor beats the **** out of him, but think Johnson wins by ko with help from extra weight.

"Following his loss after an unsuccessful weight-cut, he has been released from the promotion"

Looks like it cost him his job. How did he get that big, that quick? Last time I saw this guy he was a WW

That guy walks around as high as 240 in between fights. Only the lord alone knows how he ever made 170. He's a MASSIVE dude. And not out of shape either. Bit chubby of course in between fights. But in the run up to this you could see he was in shape. Personally i think to release him is too harsh and a big fan fare about nothing. Fine, discipline, warning of course. But this 3 strikes is something Dana made up on the fly. The reality is the UFC can terminate a fighters contract whenever they feel like.

UFC did the right thing in releasing him. How could they continue to have and pronounce him on their card when he keeps failing to make weight? They already fined and warned him before. There is no excuse for not making weight

From what i can gather he got sick because he cut too much weight too quickly. The problem is Johnson is massive for the weight. Be it middleweight much less welter. That said he was within a 1lb or so of making weight. For Dana to cut him if you ask me is unfair. Too much was made of this. And we know good and well Johnson will be back in the UFC in no time.
