Gents did we miss something here ??? [ame]http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=to1YMkOAgP0[/ame] After re watching this fight twice last night , i can but make one observation , Johnson was robbed by the referee , Dan Mirgliotta Now !!! , how i missed this live i really dont know , maybe i was rapped up in joy watching Belfort hand Johnson his ass , but after further review , its pretty simple what happened here , Johnson got seen right off with quick stand ups from the ref :deal Any thoughts ??? ................
Think we talked about this a lot of the RBR at the time. But you could see right away Johnson wasn't going to be given any time to just sit on Belfort. Think a few people had a feeling Dan was giving "instructions" to help Vitor.
What you mean that fact Dan didn't allowed Jonhson to use is gameplan ? I've pointed this out the first time Dan got the fight up after Jonhson didn't do anything for 15 second. I'm pretty sure someone told Dan to not let Jonhson do nothing on the ground for more then 10 or 15 second. The question is...would this have happened if he didn't came 11 pound overweight ?
Nah, they were on the ground for bout roughly 2:30 with Rumble in the dominant position, apart from the standing Superman punch I counted only 2 or 3 MEANINGFUL others, and he was still outstruck by Vitor on the bottom. He was content to lay his head on Vitors chest and tap his way to victory Dan deserves a medal for nipping that **** in the bud. On a side note, Mirgliotta deserves credit for how much he's improved as the 3rd man since his early buffoon days. Not saying he's the best, just improved
Watching it now 1st stand up is fine. Johnson was doing nothing while vitor was working. Vitor done great controlling his hands. 2nd was early Johnson was working a few seconds before it. Vitor defended again controlling his arm for a second then the referee stood them up??? Knees to the head would of been a nice lesson for Johnson in that fight, Vitor looked like he was about to wing one in when Rumble was on his knees.
Both stand ups were fine imo. In both Johnson wasn't looking to advance his position or work really at all. What he was looking to do was rest.
He went 30 seconds without throwing a strike after the 1st stand up, and it's hard to judge the 2nd one as the fight is incomplete. He was throwing strikes before the 2nd one, but was gassed and can be seen with his mouth hanging open. No excuses, the crowd and weigh in influenced the ref's officiating in there. I think Big Dan saw how tired he was, and where this fight was going. Johnson would have lay n pray his way to a decision if he could have. Couple that with the boos, and circumstances surrounding the fight, it was the ref's call in there. The officiating was suspect, but so was coming in way overweight for the 3rd time. The more I think about it, Big Dan adjusted accordingly.
The officiating in that fight was horrid, but most people don't give a **** because of who was on the receiving end of Mirg's bias or incompetence or orders from Zuffa brass (yes, the refs actually work for Zuffa when they're in countries that don't have athletic commissions) or whatever the **** was motivating him that night.
You mean like when Dana White told Erick Silva to appeal his disqualification because he thought it was the wrong call and Zuffa employee Marc Ratner refused to overturn the decision because in his mind the referee had followed the correct procedure. Oh wait!
rumble wasnt really doin much but i do agree they were fast stand ups, but maybe it was punishment for missing weight so bad, sand with vitor
