My predictions for this week's tournament championship bouts are Zach Makovsky by UD over Ed West and Neil Grove by KO1 over Cole Konrad.

That second one is more of a hope (as Konrad could very easily wrestle his way to an ugly, boring decision if he can take or avoid Grove's power early) but it doesn't seem too risky.

I know there's a big exciting UFC Heavyweight title showdown this week, but don't let these great fights get lost in the shuffle. What a double bill!

Alvarez/Huerta has FOTY potential. Can't wait.

Not that "Funky" isn't a spectacular cage name, but Ben Askren should really start going by "The Quilt".

He's so good at getting himself spread on top of guys and grinding out these ugly and claustrophobic points wins from their mount.

Well, the last time a majority of people including myself said a fight "couldn't possibly be anything less than FOTY", we were jinxed (Aldo-Faber)...:yep

This time, though - Alvarez-Huerta should be pretty damn good. :good

Damn. This was supposed to be very even on paper.

Eddie's mostly been outclassing him in every department.

That was a nice suplex Roger yanked out, though.

    WTF? I blinked...

    Huerta quit on his stool??

Granted, he needed a KO or submission to win, but...wtf? He had a whole round left to work...

edit: it was the physician; Roger didn't want to stop.

    what was the official verdict?

Also, this wasn't really an even fight on paper. I checked the odds and Alvarez was a heavy favorite. + he's in his hometown.

    RTD2

I meant among fans, not oddsmakers.

An inter-promotional round-robin of Edgar, Alvarez, Melendez and Aoki is absolutely mouth-watering (but unlikely).
