Just out of interest, how did your dog score Ricky Burns - Jose Gonazles? :rofl Anyhow, it's good to see you posting...hope you can see the difference between banter and trolling.
You've obviously never boxed a day in your life if you think a solid game plan cant change the outcome of a fight. In fairness to Tony hes a fighter he knows whats required to win fights, you on the other hand only know what to type in order to **** people off. Theres a difference.
of course a solid game plan can change a fight if the fighters are reasonably evenly matched...when there's as big a gulf in class as there was between Kov and Clev though, no, I don't think it would have made any difference. And you're right, I've never boxed a day in my life, but that hardly precludes me from an opinion does it? Would be a quiet forum if only pro boxers were allowed to post. You seem to be falling in to the trap of boxer gives fan stick = fishing/banter, fan gives boxer stick = trolling. Relax it's just an exchange of opinions.
The gulf in class wasnt huge, people can say what they want about Cleverly but he has good attributes and all the tools to be a top fighter,Im not making excuses for him here but his trainer and Dad Vince is an absolute tit who knows sweet ****all about boxing,Nathan should have been fighting either in close or using full extension of his jab to keep out of the way of Kovalev's punches, instead he stood in range and got picked off.Now when your going into the toughest fight of your life is that type of guy you want in your corner.Take Bernard Hopkins for example, the man is 48 years old and still fighting top level. Why? He doesnt have the attributes of Nathan Cleverly hes old enough to be his Dad but he's smart,he uses his brain to win fights and that's what was needed against Kovalev.
Some great points guys there really is, maybe I'm not giving Kovalev as much credit as deserves, I agree with JQuick especially on the training situation he mentioned.. As for myself facing him, I promise you all I'd give him something to think about and providing I beat Stevenson ill jump at a match with him if he's still champion..
It's good to see fighters wanting to go after the best in the division, but if you beat Stevenson in all fairness I can't see your promoter wanting to put you straight in with someone like kovalev more likely to want a few home defences first, not having a dig there mate I think that makes sense in all fairness money wise. Btw off topic but are you gonna be annoyed if moyes nicks Fellani and Bainess?
Fair play to you for that. I actually agree with you to an extent in that I've a sneaking suspicion he does have a dodgy gas tank...thought he was blowing a bit towards the end of the simakov fight, but damn it's going to take someone a special effort to get far enough into the fight to find out for sure.
I still stick by what I was saying pal.. Looking back I was obviously wrong but you can't go to someone's backyard and expect to take there world title away by just making them miss and posing constantly.. To be fair I only remember him having a good go in one round and that's the round he blew his load..:yep
I'd be livid :rofl it's football mate, IMO it's down to what the player wants to do really, Id be gutted if we lost them like. As for defences? Mate I have no problem at all fighting Kovalev.. You can be certain of 1 thing.. I know how to stick to a gameplan.. I've learnt it the hard way :good
Fully agree with you.. He looks very powerful early on, they seem to be heavy clubbing shots and not shots that just turn your lights out. Time will tell but you can certain that if I do what I'm hoping to do then ill go for him..:good
Mate I know you'd have no problem doing the fight, let's face it that's how fighters are just meant eddie would be looking at some easier defences first and as your promoter he'd prob be right to do that. As for the footy I find myself disillusioned with it these days ESP when you have players like Suarez wanting to do one after the way we've supported him.
Oh I understand what ya saying but believe me I'm a mentally strong person, I'll have the final say on who I fight.. Eddie actually wants to see good fights which I like, I don't think you'll see Matchroom fighters dodging people.. I mean just look at the Froch v Bute fight, Eddie made that fight when everyone was saying no after the Ward fight and everyone said have a comeback fight etc etc and Bute was on fire.. The rest is history really, what I'm getting at is that Eddie is willing to make 50/50 matches and even 60/40 against his fighters.. A few promoters are doing it now, gotta give props to Hennesy too by matching Fury with Haye.. The days of putting on dogs **** are gone IMHO..
