I think Farnell said Cleverley on Points, Im not saying Bellew is making his hand injury an excuse but if his hand is broken i presume it would be in plaster by now can anyone confirm that :bbb

 

I think at the VERY worst it was a draw for Tony. Tony outboxed Clev. Clevs higher stamina showed in the last 2 but I had Bellew more than 2 rounds up going into the 10th.
Id love a rematch but If im honest Id rather they went there se2perate ways for a few years, Tony can pick up a Europeon title and maybe a World. Then have it then.

But it was a g reat fight. Credit to both fighters

 

I don't make excuses, my hand went in the second and with the combo on the ropes! This is why I went the body so much, I don't make excuses as I still personally feel I didn't lose! My coach told me to keep it to myself, We've both had injuries and it was a great fight! Imagine how good it could be when were both 100%!! I wanna do it again ASAP! I feel I at least deserve that considering I was supposed to be just all mouth with no chance..

 

Arnie also text me after he said Clev would beat me saying, I quote "if you were with me you'd beat him"

Crazy statement.. Arnie told me for years I'd destroy him.. Oh well.. Enemies stay enimies but friends?? Sometimes they change?? :-(

I've broke my hand 5 times and only been in plaster once.. Plaster is not always the best option tbh ;-)

I hate the attitude of posters who constantly have a go at the likes of Billy Nelson, Frankie Gavin or even Tony here. The sole reason they do it is to boost their own ego but it's a shame because people like Joe Gallagher don't come on here now, because of those dickheads. If these people deserved it, fair enough because that's what ESB is like, but it's so obvious that certain petty posters are trying to make a bit of a name for themselves by being the one to buck the trend, and slag these people off.



Anyway, I thought both men showed a lot of courage that night and put on a great performance, s the revelation both suffered injuries make it even more impressive. Both are warriors and a credit to the sport. I hope that they can get it on again one day, especially if Bellew can pick up a world title of his own and then we can have an all British unification fight. That'd be amazing for British boxing.

Bellew fought well. I just wished he hadn't tried to load up so much, as I believe he paid for that down the stretch of the fight, and that, that is why he got so tired toward the end, which if Cleverly did win it, is probably where he got the benefit of the doubt, as he possibly closed better. of coarse the body shots wont of helped in that regard, but I cant help think that if Tony had dispensed with the power and utilized more combination punching and speed, and stayed with the jab, that he may very well of beat Cleverly.


Good effort though Tony. Hope you get the rematch and put things right buddy.

 

BTW, how funny was that Rupert the bear quote Bellew made about Cleverly? I literally Lol'd.

 

exactly. needs to stop looking for the KO. he could have kept up good work in the first 4 rounds for a comfortable decision. my problem with him with farnell was all the talk of his power etc but with these new coaches he went back to boxing. maybe the occasion got to him and he loaded up a bit too much. being naturally heavy handed, there is no need for him to load up. if i was training tony i would try to get him working behind the jab and throwing more shots. kind of a carl froch style (with hands up) but expect 12 rounds rather than looking for the ko at times. also keep the left hand up more as clev got through with some decent right hands
