What a fighter And he DID beat Cleverley. I was at the fight and Everyone around me (not just scousers) and everyone I spoke to was under the opinion that Tony had the fight won by a few rounds. Clev came on strong at the end but Tony won enough rounds in the first 8 to take the win And tonight Tony looked better than ever, definately a class above British. Hopefully now gets a shot at a Euro title. What I like most is the fact he is humble and realises he is not quite ready for a world shot, although I don't think he would be out of his depth in there with Hopkins, Pascal or Dawson
You might want to watch Clev-McIntosh again because there was atleast one 'one shot KD' in that fight. Also, incidently, McIntosh laid there with his hands behind his head exactly like in the Bellew fight. Clev also dropped him with a right hand, almost identical KD's. Bellew's might have happened earlier, but as I said he is a bigger puncher, but Cleverly has proved he is the better boxer by actually beating Bellew. There's no need to compare performances against a shared opposition because they've already butted heads - and guess who came out on top?
I'd give Tony a few fights before Pascal he's got a little to learn and Jean's still a good fighter and is hard to figure out but Tony is getting there. Maybe a European title fight and a few international fights. Maybe a Yusef Mack?. I think he'll win a world title, I think he could be Cloud.
Great performance. Bellew has the skills to be a factor at world class. Offensively. He has one of the best jabs in the division outside Chad Dawson and Hopkins, maybe not quite as good as a Sillakh but not too far off. Solid power, obviously not murderous but if he can maintain his posture and work-rate he has enough to hurt people. His defence and chin will be the question marks.
Also, there was a poll post Cleverly-Bellew and most ESB posters thought Cleverly won as opposed to Bellew. The majority of them being English as opposed to Welsh, which would suggest the argument of bias based on nationality being well and truly debunked.
